Location

Blackrock is a suburb of Dublin. It is a largely residential area located 8km south of thecity centre. A fashionable seaside resort in the eighteenth century, the town gets its namefrom the black rock that lies off-shore and once marked the city limits. An ancient Celticcross still stands on the main street.

About the College

Carysfort is an intimate campus that exudes charm and character. Surrounded by 25acres of mature parkland, the campus has an exclusive feel. The local suburb of Blackrockis one of the most prestigious addresses in Dublin and all the necessary amenities areclose to the campus. Blackrock DART station is located nearby and the city centre is onlya 10 minute train journey (15 minutes by bus).

Accommodation

Designed around a series of interconnected courtyards, the accommodation provides aDesigned around a series of interconnected courtyards, the accommodation provides asecure and private environment in a picturesque woodland setting.

All the students are accommodated in single rooms which have their own desk and washhand basins. Showers and toilets are located on each corridor. There is free WIFI in theaccommodation area.

Lessons

Each lesson is 45 minutes in duration and the standard programme for junior students is15 hours per week. Classes are available at all levels from Elementary (A1) to Advanced(C1). Classes for junior students will have a maximum of 15 students, but you can expectan average of 13 students per class. Class times are divided so that students receivelessons from more than one teacher, two per day allowing them the benefit of more thanone voice and teaching style and having a team of teachers liaise on their learning paths.There are 11 comfortable, modern, spacious classrooms available in the college.

Sport & Recreational Facilities

Sports & recreational activities are a big part of studying at Carysfort Campus. The activityprogramme is designed to meet the needs of the specific age profile of our students andtakes into account the facilities available. At Carysfort Campus facilities include an indoorhall, numerous green spaces, grass volleyball courts, games room and common room. Onrequest students have the option of tennis and swimming at a nearby campus.

Activities & Excursions

Carysfort Campus offers a very comprehensive cultural, sports and evening programme.Included are two half day cultural excursions to local galleries, museums and other visitorattractions per week.

There is also one full day excursion per week to cities and places of cultural importancearound Ireland. The activity programme provides young students with an opportunity toabsorb some of Ireland’s rich heritage in a fun and relaxed way. Students are alsoprovided with a weekly bus ticket.

A residential evening activity programme rounds off each day and includes: discos, IrishNights (Ceili), karaoke, talent nights, treasure hunts and activities such as sporttournaments, Mr. an Mrs. competition and casino night and will ensure that each studentis busy from breakfast to bedtime.

Student Welfare

The welfare of our students is of paramount importance to us and we offer a highstandard of care and supervision to all our students. We provide nominated ATC staffmembers to act as guardians to our individual students that travel without group leaders.It is very important for us that our students remain happy and healthy throughout theirstay. Our management in Carysfort Campus, along with our teachers and activity leaderswill ensure that all students receive the best possible care and attention so as tomaximise their experience during their study holiday.

Campus Living

Laundry

Laundry for students staying in the college is included in the package.

Cleaning

Bedrooms, kitchen and living rooms will be cleaned daily and rubbishremoved by the cleaning staff during the week. During occupancytowels and bed linen will be replaced once per week. Rooms will befully serviced between occupancies.

Safe

A safe is available for the security of the student’s belongings atCarysfort Campus. Students are encouraged to store large sums ofmoney or valuables here. Travel tickets and passports are normallykept in the safe for the duration of the students stay.

Fire Safety

Student Identity CardIn order to co-operate with the security and safety standards atCarysfort Campus, ATC Language & Travel will supply all studentswith a student identity card. Students must carry their card withthem at all times.

SecurityThere will be a 24 hour security guard monitoring the facility, dealingwith security and related matters and responding to fire alarmactivations. In order to cooperate with college staff, when askedstudents will be required to identify themselves and respond tolegitimate directions relating to safety, security and good order. AnATC Language & Travel staff member will assist Carysfort Campussecurity in the event of noise disturbances, incidents involvinglanguage school participants or medical emergencies.

DeliveriesMail and other deliveries for students will be passed onto the CentreFire Safety

All students and groups leaders are to attend a mandatory firebriefing. Any breach of fire safety regulations may result in a fine andexpulsion from the course.

Damages

All students will be expected to pay a €50 damage deposit that willbe collected by the group leaders upon arrival. This will be retainedthroughout the duration of the student’s stay, the deposit will bereturned in full prior to departure less the cost of any damagescaused by the students.

Keys

Room keys will be provided to each student. Lost keys can bereplaced by Carysfort Campus staff at a cost of €20 each.

Mail and other deliveries for students will be passed onto the CentreManager for distribution.

On arrival at the airport, students will be met by an ATC Language &Travel representative who will escort them to Carysfort Campus.Dublin International Airport is located approximately 20kms fromCarysfort Campus, with the average journey time being 45 minutesdepending on traffic. An airport transfer can only be arranged whenflight information is received in writing by ATC Language & Travel atleast 10 days prior to arrival. ATC Language & Travel cannot takeresponsibility for the students’ arrival transfer unless this procedure isfollowed.

Medical Information

In the case of a medical emergency, an ATC Language & Travelmember of staff will assist in seeking the appropriate treatment. Anytrips to the doctor, dentist or hospital will have to be paid in full bythe student (including transport where necessary). All students willbe accompanied by a group leader.
