Dries Buytaert - Keynote

• Drupal needs to start working on its marketing/look– Strong engineering effort but marketing not so good– Compared drupal.org/ and wordpress.org/

• Recognised opportunity for adoption across an organisation’s websites – lots of tools used across many websites – CERN’s situation is not unique and it has been recognised. – Direction of Drupal may help future large-scale

implementation.

Drupal Business Day• “We invented the Web. 20 years later we got Drupal” – CERN’s perspective on

adopting Drupal as an Enterprise platform > link– What is CERN | Challenges of the web at CERN | Why Drupal | Where are we now? |

Where are we going?• Presented with Nicolas Bocquert of Linalis• ~40 people: reaction: “WOW!”• Questions

– Are you going to adopt Drupal 8? What was your experience with migrating between 6+7? How did you communicate with the community that you had had released Drupal? Why Drupal and not Joomla! or any other CMS? How are you going to manage the data migration of 10,500 websites?

• Results– Increase our visibility

• “it doesn’t matter how challenging it is, the point is that CERN is using Drupal!”– New contacts

• ACQUIA management very interested in discussing with CERN
