Drive a Senior joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement To Encourage Spending With a Purpose

Austin, TX – Drive a Senior will participate in #GivingTuesday to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take col-laborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world. Taking place on December 2, 2014 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping. Drive a Senior relies on contributions and volunteers from the community to help those who want to continue to live healthy and active lives in their own homes. Very few workable trans-portation options are available to serve non-driving seniors in the Greater Austin Metropolitan Area; family members might not always be available, public transportation is not designed for individualized attention, and taxi service can be costly for people on fixed incomes. With one of the fastest growing senior populations in the nation, our free services are in higher demand than ever before. “The gift of giving is an offering of assurance” Those who are interested in joining Drive a Senior’s #GivingTuesday initiative through volunteer efforts or donation, can visit www.driveasenior.org. Drive a Senior is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are tax deductible. For more details about the #GivingTuesday movement, visit #GivingTuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org). About Drive a Senior: Drive a Senior is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that provides free rides to people over the age of 60. Drive a Senior is the oldest, largest, and most reliable provider of free transportation for seniors in the Austin area with a mission to help older neighbors remain in their homes as long as possible.

2014 CLIENT SURVEY

Drive a Senior will be conducting a short client survey this December

as part of a requirement for our grantors. The Drive a Senior North

Central office staff and volunteers will be telephoning our clients and

asking a few questions regarding Drive a Senior client services. Your

answers help us know our services add value to your life and how we

can improve. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary

and you can skip questions. It is however, very important for us to

hear your opinions. Your survey responses are confidential and never

identified with your name. Thank you very much in advance for your

time and support.

GRACIOUS VOLUNTEERS

Don’t Forget We need at least THREE working days

before your appointment to find a

volunteer to provide your ride.

All service requests must go through our

office

Notify the office of ANY changes or

concerns

Not to call our volunteers directly

To notify us immediately if you need to

cancel your appointment—don’t wait

until the volunteer arrives at your home

to cancel. This wastes volunteer re-

sources.

For Volunteers: Please call your passenger

when you accept the assignment to let them

know you are driving them. And follow up the

day before the drive, to remind them who you

are and what time you plan to arrive to pick

them up. Notify the office of any changes or

concerns.
