PSG College of Technology established in the year 1951 by the PSG & Sons’ Charities Trust is an AICTE approved autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University and is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institution. PSG College of Technology believes in creating and dissem-inating knowledge and skills in core and frontier disciplines through innovative educational programmes, industrial training, research & consultancy and developing a new cadre of professionals with a high level of compe-tence, deep sense of social commitment and ethics. PSG College of Technology has collaborative arrangements with industries, research laboratories and Universities abroad in various areas of joint academic programmes, research and training. PSG College of Technology offers 21 undergraduate programmes and 37 postgraduate programmes. It also offers research programs leading to MS/Ph.D. degrees in all departments. Currently more than 520 research scholars, both full time and part time, are working for their Ph.D. degree.
The Department of Physics was established in the year 1951. The department has been working towards fulfilling its mission through a synergistic combination of teaching and research. Apart from offering courses for the under-graduate, post graduate engineering programmes, the department has also been conducting short term contin-uing education programmes for participants from educa-tional institutions and industries. The mission of the depart-ment is to contribute to the training of a wide spectrum of students of engineering and technology by offering relevant curricular inputs related to applied physics. Research & development and consultancy activities are being carried out to achieve self- sufficiency in Hi-Tech Materials, devices and instruments. Research work in the area of Thin Film Devices, Nanomaterials, MEMS, Solar Cells, Crystal Growth and Non-Linear Dynamics are in progress.

The above facilities can be extented to outside researchers with good collaboration initiative.
The development of novel materials for various technological applications has become one of the fast devel-oping fields of research in the past few decades. The objec-tive of this seminar is to bring together experts from academic institutions, industries and research organiza-tions for sharing of knowledge and experience in the recent trends related to various smart materials and appli-cations .The seminar is aimed to bring up substantial discussion on major sectors of advanced functional materi-al preparation, characterization, properties, performance and device fabrication and to increase innovation among the researchers to improve scientific developments of the country.
The accommodation will be arranged in the Guest house/student hostel on prior request. Guest House : Rs.500/- per dayStudent Hostel : Rs.300/- Per day
