A Play: Marx in SohoFriday 19th June 20158:00pm (Doors 7:30pm)Spread Eagle Hotel| £9

A play written by Howard Zinn and directed by Sergio Amigo. A fascinating tale reflecting on God’s benevolent suggestion that Karl Marx returns to Dean Street, Soho, in London, where he lived for a time, to face his sternest critics. Alas God ‘by accident’ deposits Karl in Soho, New York, the home of the most advanced capitalist country in the world. This play, which runs for 85 minutes, ticks all the boxes right across the entertainment spectrum from amusing to mutinous.

When an agony aunt reaches sixty, she can lie like a trooper, jump off a bridge – or take to the stage. This is a witty show for adults, providing an oasis of grown-up calm and wisdom. Plus, it’s the first, and probably the last, time you’ll ever hear a colostomy-bag showstopper or a glucosamine sulphate-related heckle. This doyenne of Fleet Street delivers her observations with precision, style and wit. Her writing is “beautiful, funny,

sensible and smart – and her show, is an absolute delight.”

Comedy Therapy: The Songs ofJake Thackray and Pete ScottFriday 26th June 20157:30pmThe Boot Room | £8

After last year’s sell out show. The Jake Thackray Syndrome and Pete Scott return with their brilliant comic songs. With songs about transvestite nuns, rampant cockerels and the pitfalls of iPod shuffles, you can only expect the unexpected as this unique comic takes on the world. Always a sell-out, this is a guaranteed night of great entertainment.

Jo Caulfield: ‘Uninformed Opinions’Friday 26th June 20158:00pm (Doors 7:30pm)Lymm Hotel | £14

Expect razor sharp observations and scandalous one-liners as she shares her opinions on everything from women who always pick the wrong partner and men who continually quote gangster films, to families arguing on trains and the growth of passive-aggressive corporate friendliness. ‘Uninformed Opinions’ is pure stand-up comedy. There are no gimmicks - just Jo Caulfield and her biting acerbic tongue.
