Mission College Today

Enrollment Patterns and Expectations• 2008-2010 enrollment count has increased over 30%• Won’t have enough classes to meet the demand for another 1-2

yrs• Efficiency of our courses will increase; however faculty are

adding students beyond class max.• Need for transfer courses will increase as students are unable to

enroll at UC/ CSU• Classified staff have been impacted by budget reductions,

meaning:

“MORE PEOPLE DOING MORE WITH LESS”

Expectations…• Adding new programs are difficult when existing programs have

students waitlisted• Preparing for an economic rebound when students will have

greater choices• Increasing numbers of fulltime student enrollment ratio

• Faced tremendous obstacles:

-Major health issues

-Caring for his aunt and grandmother

-Lived in the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter• Maintained his college education, earning 3 college

degrees from Mission College:

-Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Sociology• Maintain a 3.55 GPA• Won Soropimist and Access scholarships: total $1,200• Won fall 2009 Speech and College Brain Dive contest• On graduation, he was commended by councilmember
