Sister Maura Smith Earth Day Lecture 2011 Renowned marine biologist and deep-sea explorer Dr. Edith Widder ‘Exploring and Protecting Planet Ocean’ Monday, April 18 • 7 p.m. Taylor Little Theatre Free and open to the public Dr. Widder co-founded ORCA – the Ocean Research and Conservation Association – to protect the ocean she loves. A specialist in bioluminescence (the light chemically produced by many ocean organisms), she has developed equipment to watch sea life undisturbed in its habitat, including the Eye-in-the-Sea™ camera that’s opening a window on this hidden world.
