ABSTRACT ORNITHOPTER The subject of flying vehicles propelled by flapping wings also known as ornithoptershas been an area of interest in recent years. These gained the importance because of their applications in micro aerial vehicles (MAVs). These miniature vehicles seek to mimic small birds and insects to achieve never before seen agility (Ability to maintain equilibrium) in flight. The time of flight of these vehicles is more when compared to traditional vehicles. These type of vehicles resemble small birds and insects in micro sizewhich can be very useful to identify peopleget caught under debris in disaster relief operations.

military applications such as aerial reconnaissance without alerting the enemies that they are under surveillance.
These can also be used for research on rare species of birds and insects that are meant to extent in the near future, so as to take preventive measures.
