The U.S. Women’s National Team beat Japan 3-1 to claim the 2020 SheBelieves Cup title - and third SheBelieves cham-pionship overall - in front of a sellout crowd of 19,096 fans. Megan Rapinoe and Christen Press scored magnificent first half goals that were followed by a late Lindsey Horan insurance strike to give the USWNT the victory.

The USA (3-0-0, 9 points) finished atop the tour-nament standings while Spain (2-1-0, 6 points), which was making its debut in the competition, defeated England (1-2-0, 3 points) 1-0 on a late goal in the 84 th minute to finish second. England finished third and Japan (0-3-0, 0 points) rounded out the standings. Spain attacker Alexia Putellas was named the Visa SheBelieves Cup MVP after scoring twice in the tournament.

U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski shook up his starting XI with six changes to the lineup that began against Spain, bringing in goalkeeper Adrianna Franch and defender Tierna Davidson for their first action of the tournament as well as handing starts to outside back Kelley O’Hara, midfielder Lindsey Horan and forwards Christen Press and Tobin Heath.

The new lineup wasted little time carving out the lead as Horan was fouled on the edge of the pen-alty area as she dribbled toward goal. Rapinoe

curled the ensuing free kick over the Japan wall into the top left corner to put the USA up 1-0 in the 7th minute.

In the 26th minute, Rapinoe intercepted a pass from Japan goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita and quickly played the ball to Press at the top of the box. She sent magical chip over Yamashita and into the net for joint team-leading seventh goal of 2020 to put the WNT firmly in the driver’s seat.

After Press’ goal, the USA has scored on both of its shots so far, and at that point, Japan needed four goals to knock the USA out of first place. While the perennial Asian power came out with renewed energy in the second half after the USA had the better of the play in the opening stanza, that was too big a mountain to climb.

Franch, playing in just her fourth cap, made a fine double save in the 50 th minute, first knocking down a long-range drive from Mana Iwabuchi and then making a point-blank stop on the follow-up. Iwabuchi would not be denied on her next at-tempt in the 58th minute when she snapped a shot through traffic to haul Japan within a goal at 2-1.

With the visitors ascendant and the USA trying to find its shape after a slew of subs, Japan threat-ened again minutes later, but a sharp angled shot hit the inside of the left post and deflected away from the U.S. goal and with it went Japan’s last

quality opportunity to tie the match.

In the 83rd minute, substi-tute Mallory Pugh picked out Horan with a corner kick that the WNT’s joint-leading scor-er powered inside the left post to put the USA up 3-1 and on the path to claiming its third SheBelieves crown.

RED BULLS EARN HARD FOUGHT POINT IN SALT LAKE

WATCH LIVE FOOTBALL ON OUR 9 HD TVS

The New York Red Bulls were close on capturing their first ever win at Rio Tinto Stadium in their visit to Real Salt Lake but fell short as Damir Kreilach scored in stoppage time to finish the game in a 1-1 draw.

Once again the Red Bulls got on the scoresheet first, thanks to a Cristian Cásseres Jr. golazo in the 13th minute.

Cásseres Jr.’s goal meant that to start the 2020 season, the Red Bulls have had four different goal scorers. Last season, they ended with a league-high of 18.

However, the match turned out to be complicated after scor-ing the first goal of the game. Real Salt Lake ended the match with 21 shots, six of them on target, requiring New York’s defensive unit to step up big on multiple occasions.

Right back Kyle Duncan, who was coming off a one-goal, two-assist performance against FC Cincinnati, gave an im-pressive defensive performance in Utah, where he finished the day with two clearances off the line. Meanwhile, center-back Amro Tarek got five clearances, two interceptions and won three of his four ground duels.

“I think it’s just amazing to have a solid backline and a solid goal-keeper,” said Tarek. “Some games are going to be like today’s, where you have to step up and make the big saves. We could have won because of them, but as I said, it’s a great team effort. We’re happy with the point.”

In the 62nd minute, captain Sean Davis and Kaku tracked back to stop a breakaway that could have ended in a RSL goal.

Goalkeeper David Jensen made a stupendous save in the 11th minute, which will likely be one of the best Week 2 saves.

“Nothing but respect, that’s what’s all about,” said Jensen after the match as he talked about Duncan and

Davis’ key clearances off the line. “As I said before, it’s a team effort. We came here to this difficult game under dif-ficult conditions, and we just fought. They got my back, and that’s what’s all about. This was a team effort.”

Florian Valot and Kaku couldn’t find the spaces and passing options they were able to spot in the home opener, allowing Salt Lake to reduce the Red Bulls’ dangerous plays.

One of the big takeaways from the game was that the to-getherness the team has talked a lot about since the preseason was reflected on the fi-nal score. Their game plan almost resulted with a hard-fought 1-0 win, which should leave them with plenty of confidence head-ing into their Week 3 visit to Minnesota United FC.

“As a coach to see a team that is together, that sticks together and suffers together, I’m proud of them for that,” said Head Coach Chris Armas. “So, hard-fought point, really proud of them, and it’s a shame we didn’t get all three because we scraped till the end and had it in our grasp. You can credit Salt Lake for a good push that they made; it’s tough to play here at altitude and happy to leave here with a point.”

We’ve reached the point where it seems only the spread of the Coronavirus can prevent the coronation of Liverpool as the earliest ever Premier League champions.

Manchester United hold the record in terms of date - April 14 in 2001 - while that season they also posted the record for fewest games needed, 33, a record since equalled by Manchester City in 2017/18. Both of those landmarks look set to be obliterated by Jurgen Klopp and his side who, at the time of writ-ing, need just two more wins to finish the job.

The postponement of Manchester City’s game against Arsenal because of health concerns on Wednesday could make for mathematical delay, but if City lose to Burnley at the weekend, Liverpool would turn up at Goodison Park on Monday knowing that victory would seal the title there and then, in game 30. Evertonians will rarely have prayed so hard for Manchester City to do well.

Perhaps Liverpool might have to take it to game 31 or 32, for not even Klopp’s team are invincible - that’s a tag still reserved for Arsenal alone in the mod-ern era after the Reds succumbed to Watford a couple of weeks back, a re-minder of just what an extraordinary feat going through a league season un-beaten was by Arsene Wenger’s team.

That result will have stung Liverpool fans who would have fancied collect-ing every bit of history on offer while the going was good, but ultimately that will be a minor irritation for them once they end a 30 year title drought, reclaiming a supremacy that seemed all but automatic through the 1970s and 1980s.

Those were the golden times of Shank-ly, Paisley, Dalglish, Rush, Keegan, Hughes and Hansen, when Liverpool redefined the way English teams could play and what they could win. They were a supremely efficient machine, at

home and in Europe, making it all seem so effortless and automatic.

Who knows how long Liverpool would have stayed on their perch had it not been for the two traumas of Hey-sel and Hillsborough? Yes, Manches-ter United under Alex Ferguson were always going to prove a bigger and more sustained threat through the ‘90s and beyond than any other opponent prior to that, but had Hillsborough in particular not ripped through the club, exhausting fans, players, staff, Liv-erpool would surely have been better equipped to compete.

It wasn’t simply that they lost Dalg-lish, shattered by carrying the burden, it was that they also lost the manic fo-cus they’d had in the glory years. They had other, more important battles to fight, a fight for the truth, for justice. It was the right fight, but it came at a cost in purely footballing terms, never mind human ones.

It’s too glib to say that a whole football club was in the grip of PTSD, but it’s not so far from the truth either. How could it be any other way, when 96 members of your family were taken away in such horrific circumstances, in full view of the public, images which were then systematically distorted by the establishment for its own ends? Fake news isn’t new.

Recovery takes time and the Liverpool cause was not helped over the years by changes in ownership, question-able managerial appointments, poor transfer dealings. But great institutions rarely stay down forever and, eventu-

ally, things began to align themselves again, on and off the pitch. As Liver-pool celebrate the title, whenever it comes, one toast should be addressed to Brendan Rodgers, for he did much to put the team back on the right path, even if ultimate victory was just out of his grasp. But he did crucial work that should not be underestimated, clearing the way for Klopp.

However much longer his reign at An-field, whatever else he achieves there, Klopp has already done enough to en-sure he can be rightly mentioned in the same breath as Shankly and Paisley. It’s not simply a matter of trophies, not just that he has delivered the title that long seemed unwinnable, even cursed, although that’s crucial. It’s also be-cause Klopp understands the football club, the city, the support in the same way they did.

He has taken the age old Liverpool verities from the days of their prime, that relentless red wave that floods down upon opponents, and added to them for the modern age, injecting even more pace and athleticism, made them more irresistible yet on their best days, a Red Sea that engulfs rather than divides.

Ferociously competitive though they unquestionably are, there’s also a smile about this Liverpool, a team of Salah, Milner, Alexander-Arnold more likeable, for the neutral anyway, than the snarling rage of Souness, Thomp-son and Aldridge. Though if they keep winning titles, the attraction for the neutrals will perhaps fall away. That’s how it goes in England - nothing fails to impress like sustained success.

LIVERPOOL CLOSE IN ON COVETED EPL TITLE

Football’s strength is its unpre-dictability and doubtless, the teams below will steel them-selves to strengthen in the sum-mer, ready to mount a better challenge next time around. Liverpool must do likewise and remember the Shankly maxim that the best time to strengthen is when you’re on top. Climbing

the mountain again, staying at the peak, that is the biggest test, that is what defines greatness, that is why Paisley and Ferguson are at the managerial pinnacle. That is the examination that awaits.

‘Sunday’s match featured two teams that looked

decidedly mediocre.’

Read more Greg Mckay at:www.firsttouchonline.com

As Liverpool look all but cer-tain to wrap up their first Eng-lish Premier League title in the coming weeks, attention has turned to who are the likely contenders for winning the title next season. ESPN FC Se-nior Writer Mark Ogden ar-gued recently that Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the title next season will be Manchester United and Manchester City.

If last weekend’s derby match was anything to go by, however, Ogden couldn’t be further from the mark.

The twenty-five point gap between Liverpool and Manchester City does not even scratch the surface in showing how far behind their one-time rivals the Manchester clubs have fallen.

Where once there were exciting tac-tical battles and end-to-end football, Sunday’s match featured two teams that looked decidedly mediocre. For both Manchester clubs, their frail-ties start in defense. Manchester City have yet to find a real replace-ment for the solidity and leadership provided by former captain Vincent Kompany or a real solution at left back.

In the offseason, Guardiola must come to terms with the fact that it is near impossible to compete for a Premier League crown without a spine of the team featuring at least one world class center back. Unfor-tunately for the Spanish manager, the Kompany’s and van Dijk’s of the world do no grow on trees.

For Manchester United, Luke Shaw is a liability at left back and the

jury remains out on whether Harry Maguire is a player capable of an-choring a title contending back line. While a capable defender and ade-quate passer, Maguire hasn’t shown the ability to dominate in the same way as some of the best at the posi-tion.

Manchester City also face serious questions in midfield. Without Silva pulling the strings, the team is en-tirely reliant on de Bruyne, and his questionable fitness record, to run the show. When he is out of the squad, as he was Sunday, the team lack direction and imagination go-ing forward.

Manchester United, on the other hand, look to have gotten a gem in Bruno Fernandes but have a host of attacking options yet to show they can produce on anything ap-proaching a consistent manner. At this stage in their careers, Martial and Rashford should be coming into their own as regularly striking fear into opposing defenses. Instead, they are exceptional talents yet to become world class professionals able to perform week-in, week-out.

Fortunately for both clubs, there are wildcards like Pogba and Laporte which if healthy and performing next season could change the equa-tion. But, even with squads fully healthy there are serious needs on both ends of Manchester to return to title contention.

Rather than the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea look even better positioned to compete for a title

next season. After a string of good results early in the campaign, the Blues have slowed in recent months but still have the pieces in place to mount a serious challenge next sea-son.

First, Chelsea have the best and most balanced central midfield out-side of Liverpool when Kante, Ko-vacic and Jorginho are in the side. Kante provides the energy and de-fensive cover with Jorginho always the eager outlet. Kovacic is under-rated but fits the mold of the modern midfielder able to play box-to-box on both sides of the ball at a world class level.

In addition, a host of young attack-ing talent looked incredibly danger-ous before succumbing to injuries early in the season. Tammy Abra-ham was bagging goals on a regu-lar basis, while Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic look to have the ability to play the creative force for seasons to come.

Importantly, Chelsea have not been particularly active for the past sev-eral transfer windows, aside from the high-priced acquisition of Pulis-ic. This will leave club with a large stash of “dry powder” with which to address Lampard’s needs in defense or finding a true talisman to replace the departed Eden Hazard. Even without further signings, however, Lampard’s team are well positioned to mount a serious challenge on the title next season.

ANSWERS ON PAGE 17

New York City FC fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Toronto FC on Saturday night.

No Panic

Two games, two 0-1 defeats, but no one is reaching for the panic button on the NYC side.

City were unfortunate to fall again on Satur-day as Toronto were able to find the only goal late in a tight and often feisty encounter at BMO Field.

Ifunanyachi Achara scored the night’s only goal with 10’ remaining, just when it looked as though the Boys in Blue would get at least

a point out of their second road trip.

It wasn’t to be, but Ronny Deila was not too downcast and will hope to re-cord his first MLS points as Head Coach vs. FC Dal-las next time out in front of our sup-porters.

Second Half Improvement

For Ronny, it was the first half performance which was most dis-appointing, but he was pleased with the reac-tion after the interval.

The Norwegian told reporters: “They played through us and got pressure on us, but I think when we went out in the second half, we were much better in a 20 minutes period there. “We created a big chance with Jesus and then the game was very even but, in the end, they had a couple more chances.”

Grudge Match

Players spoke of a desire for revenge in the buildup to the match after Toronto ended

City’s Playoff dreams in 2019, but despite a ton of effort, Deila’s men fell just short.

NYCFC vs. TFC is quickly turning into a grudge match, with a series of bruising en-counters going both ways in the brief history of this fixture.

While the Boys in Blue couldn’t throw it back to Greg Vanney’s men on this occasion, a regular season win doesn’t equal a couple of Playoff defeats anyway, so let’s get ‘em next time… and then again in the postseason if it lines up that way again…

Bright Spots

Despite the result, there were some strong individual performances in the match, espe-cially from a defensive point of view as City stood up stoutly through a couple of periods of intense pressure.

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson was one of those who emerged with credit after making eight saves on his 101st MLS appearance for NYC, while James Sands, who dropped into the back four in place of the suspended Maxime Cha-not, battled manfully vs. one of the league’s most physical and wily strikers, Jozy Altidore.

That resilience will likely hold NYC in good stead in the challenges ahead, especially in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.

Homecoming Week

It’s a busy week with plenty on the line but Ronny wouldn’t have it any other way.

He said: “[Two games this week] is no prob-lem, that’s good. We want to get out and get winning. It’s going to be a big game on Wednesday and I’m looking forward to it.”

Homecoming Week climaxes with the 2020 Home Opener vs. FC Dallas on Saturday.

Leicester’s Harvery Barnes scored in three games in a row.

The global coronavirus panic spilled over from the real world to the fantasy world this week as the postponement of Wednes-day’s already-rescheduled Man City v Arsenal game turned the DGW into a plain old GW, emphasising just how se-riously we all need to take this outbreak. And while this weekend’s Premier League games were still scheduled to go ahead at the time of writing, it looks inevitable that the newly-declared pandemic will wreak havoc with the remainder of the football season.

However, in the spirit of keeping calm and carrying on, here are my picks for GW30…

GoalkeeperGiven Arsenal’s newfound defensive resil-ience (3 clean sheets in the last 4), it would be tempting to go with Leno (5m) in goal, but given the quarantining of an unspecified portion of the Gunners squad, it seems like Arsenal players are best avoided right now, in more ways than one.

As such, I’m turning to Southampton’s Mc-Carthy (4.5m) to build on his 12-point haul and penalty save in GW29 with a clean sheet away to the league’s joint-lowest scorers, Norwich.

DefendersWith Liverpool closing in on their first top league title in 30 years, it would be remiss not to include one of their most consistent performers, and the top-scoring defender in FPL, Alexander-Arnold (7.8m) away to Everton, where you’d fancy him to add to his tally of 14 assists, 11 clean sheets and 2 goals.

Wolves’ defensive record in recent weeks (4 clean sheets in 5) has been superb, but ma-rauding full-back Doherty’s returns have been even better, with 40 points in the last 5 gameweeks courtesy of those aforemen-tioned clean sheets plus a goal, 2 assists and 3 bonus points. No doubt the Irishman will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing up to West Ham’s obliging defence.

Newcastle have managed an impressive 9 clean sheets so far this season, one of the big reasons they currently sit 8 points above the relegation zone. While the loss of goalkeeper Dubravka (5m) is significant, they should still be hard to break down when Sheffield United come calling to St James’ Park, where the Magpies have recorded 6 of their clean sheets. With 2 goals and 2 assists so far, Fernández (4.5m) looks the best pick from their tena-cious backline.

MidfieldersSadio Mané (12.4m) has arguably been Liv-erpool’s player of the season, and his away performances (where he’s bagged 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 full appearances) have been particularly crucial, and you wouldn’t bet against him putting the Reds in touching dis-tance of the holy grail with a decisive perfor-mance away to their Merseyside rivals.

Leicester’s Harvey Barnes (6.1m) had been turning heads even before his 19-point re-turn in GW29, having scored in 3 consecu-tive matches from GW23-25. He’ll fancy his chances of adding to his 6 goals and 8 assists against Watford.

Picking Man City players, as we all know, can be an intensely frustrating experience, with not even the team’s superstars safe from Pep Roulette, but if you’re in the mood to roll the dice, you could do worse than pick Mahrez (8.4m) for City’s home encounter with Burn-ley. With 7 goals and 10 assists in just 1,382 minutes of football (equivalent to approx. 15.5 x 90mins), the Algerian has been pretty consistent when he’s been given the chance.

Fernandes (8.5m) has been a revela-tion since his Janu-ary move to Unit-ed, injecting vision and intent into the Red Devils’ incon-sistent midfield while helping him-self to 2 goals, 3 assists and 6 bonus points in 5 games. Spurs, meanwhile, look in disar-ray, which should be good news for the Portu-guese playmaker.

ForwardsJota (6.4m) has been in spectacular form for Wolves lately, with 6 goals in his last 4 games (including the Europa League), but as the league’s 6th-highest scorers meet the di-vision’s 4th-worst defence, I’m backing his strike partner Jiménez (8m), who has 13 goals and 6 assists so far, to be the main man.

For those of us who’ve held Jamie Vardy (9.6m) through his 10-week goal drought, there was arguably as much catharsis as there was for the Foxes’ frontman himself when he came off the bench to bang in 2 goals in 30 minutes against Villa in GW29. Watford, watch out.

Callum Wilson (7.4m) has been quietly eas-ing back into form lately, with 3 goals in his last 6. And while Palace have refound their defensive imperiosity with 3 clean sheets in a row, I feel that Bournemouth’s greater need for points will see them come out on top with Wilson leading the way.

Saturday March 21stSCOTTISH PREMIER

Celtic v St. Johnstone11am

16. 13. 10.

One of these numbers will re-flect the gap between Celtic and Rangers following Sun-day’s Glasgow derby. And, as usual with these two “old” foes, the numbers tell the sto-ry.

Those of you who have watched the two most recent encounters between these two sides—on December 29th, just before the winter break, and earlier in that same month in the Scottish League Cup final—will know that the Govan side have been on the front foot in both, carrying play and possession for much of both matches.

In fact, Steven Gerrard’s side effec-tively went into the aforementioned three-week winter break in pole po-sition, given that they had, and still have, a match at hand on rivals Celt-ic. Their problem has been since the re-start, at least domestically.

Since late January, the Hoops have been on a 12-match unbeaten run. Over the same period, ’Gers have dropped points to Kilmarnock, Ab-erdeen, Hearts and Hamilton, the last at home no less.

All of which means the gap stands at 13 points, though Gerrard and his charges still have that important match at hand.

So, should Celtic win on Sunday, they will have a 16-point lead in the table, with seven matches to play.

Rangers would need to win out, in their eight remaining fixtures, and hope their rivals win just two and draw one of their last seven.

Five of those matches for both sides won’t be set until after the uniquely Scottish “split” in early April—meaning: the opponents will be in the top half of the table—but it’s unlikely Celtic would get such a

meager return, even so. This isman-ager Neil Lennon’s first time at the dance, after all.

Given that, should his side lose, expanding the gap to 16, Gerrard would be expected—and would do well—to focus his attentions on the Europa League, where ’Gers have a chance to advance, at least as of this writing, and help the ex-Liverpool legend earn his first piece of hard-ware as a bench boss.

It might be his only chance of staying in the job come summer.

A draw, though, and the de-cision becomes a bit hard. Indeed, 13 points with seven/eight matches to play is still significant, but it could be argued that that match at hand—which is against St. Johnstone, by the way—for Rangers renders it a 10-point

difference. Make that seven if Rang-ers are able to defeat Celtic again in the post-split match at Celtic Park, likely sometime in April.

Rangers tipping Celtic for the Pre-miership title in this scenario would still entail a monumental collapse by the Hoops, but it would be, or at least could be, interesting.

Should Gerrard’s side win at Ibrox on Sunday, though, the title race would most definitely have some

drama as the season winds down. That would reduce Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to 10 points—but really seven, assuming Rangers can defeat St. Johnstone in that match at hand. Perhaps even four if, as above, ’Gers can win again at Celtic Park later this spring.

Under that scenario, even the expe-rienced Lennon and his battle-tested squad would feel the heat.

16. 13. 10.Come Sunday, we’ll know which number will likely govern the short-term future of the Premiership title race.

NO FUTURE: PAUL COOK RULES OUT ANOTHER SEX PISTOLS RE-UNIONSex Pistols drummer Paul Cook has ruled out any future reunion for the band.

The iconic punk outfit originally split in 1978 following the departure of frontman Johnny Rotten. Bassist Sid Vicious died the year after, but the Sex Pistols have since reformed on three separate occa-sions: 1996-2001, 2002-2003 and most recently from 2007-8.

“I can’t see it happening again for the Pis-tols and I don’t think anyone wants it to.” said Cook.

“I’m still close to Steve [Jones, guitarist] but that’s as far as it goes. It’s not just Steve and Johnny. There’s so much water under the bridge and so much history, I don’t think it would work out.”

Cook added that Glen Matlock still “feels aggrieved at being kicked out”, with the musician having been fired ahead of ‘Nev-er Mind the Bollocks…’ being recorded. Matlock is, however, credited on 10 of its tracks.

Back in 2017, Steve Jones said that the likelihood of any Sex Pistols return seemed slim – especially as he and Rot-ten no longer speak, despite both living in Los Angeles.

BIFFY CLYRO CONFIRM NEW ALBUM A CELEBRATION OF ENDINGS FOR RELEASE IN MAYBiffy Clyro have confirmed their eighth studio album is entitled A Celebration Of End-ings and will be released on May 15th.

“This is a very forward-looking album from a personal perspec-tive and a societal perspective,” says frontman Simon Neil.

“The title is about seeing the joy in things changing, rath-er than the sadness. Change means progression and evolution. You can retain everything you loved before, but let’s lose the bad shit. It’s about trying to take back control.”

Another track from the record, End Of, is available now after Instant History sig-

nalled the band’s return last week.

“This time around we wanted to lead with something that was the most out there thing which we’ve got on the record,” Neil said of it. “Instant History is the biggest, most slammest pop moment we’ve ever worked on.”

ROISIN MURPHY DEDICATES BBC 6 MUSIC FESTIVAL SET TO ANDREW WEATHERALLRoisin Murphy dedicated her set at the BBC 6 Music Festival in London last night to the late Andrew Weatherall.

The singer was playing the Roundhouse as part of the festival, and took time during closing song ‘Flash Of Light’ to pay tribute to the DJ and producer.

“I’d like to dedicate this set to Andrew Weatherall,” she said. “He really was something very very special and I wish I could tell him, because I never really told him… big cheer for Andy Weatherall!”

Speaking on 6 Music after the show, Murphy added: “It’s always nice that last song, ‘Flash of Light’. Even though hardly anyone knows it, it’s just got such a very emotional groove, it’s always nice to end on that one.

“And of course I dedicated it, as I dedi-cated the whole set, to Andrew Weatherall. Yes, that felt right.”

Weatherall passed away last month after suffering a pulmonary embolism. Upon news of his death, a host of musicians in-cluding Primal Scream and The Charlatans paid tribute to the lauded DJ and producer.

In the wake of the legendary DJ’s death, a massive 900 hours of mixes by Andrew Weatherall have been shared by a group of fans.

COACHELLA CONFIRMS FESTIVAL WILL MOVE TO OCTOBER AMID CORONAVIRUS FEARSCoachella has officially announced that it will be postponed until October, in direct re-sponse to the coronavirus outbreak.

On March 10, festival organisers Golden-voice issued a statement announcing that the Indio, California festival will now take place on the consecutive weekends of Oc-tober 9-11 and October 16-18.

Coachella was initially scheduled to be-gin the weekend of April 10, with Travis Scott, Rage Against The Machine and Frank Ocean due to headline.

Goldenvoice also confirmed that its country music festival Stagecoach – also staged in Indio, and headlined this year by Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church – will move from April 24-26 to October 23-25.

“At the direction of the County of River-side and local health authorities, we must

sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coach-ella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns,” Goldenvoice’s statement read.

“While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and com-munity very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”

All tickets for Coachella and Stagecoach April dates will be honoured for the re-scheduled October dates, though ticketh-olders will be notified on how to secure a refund by this Friday, March 13.
