What is Double?
• Double is 2 of he same thing!
• 2a=a+a
Adding Doubles
• Adding a number to itself.
• Example: 5+5= 10

• When multiplying by 2, you are making 2 groups of the thing you are multiplying.
• Example: 4x2=8

What do you do when you add double?
a. Add the number to itself (9+9)
b. Add the number to the next higher number (8+9)
c. Add 2 to the number (2+9)
