• Continous Flow Intersection (CFI) concept developed about 20 years ago
• Also referred to as Displaced Left Turn (DLT)
• Locations for CFIs in Planning, Design, Construction or Operation
– United States
• 1st CFI in the U.S. was built in Long Island, New York
• Arkansas, Georgia, New York, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Virginia
– International
• Over 40 Locations in Mexico

INTRODUCTION
A CFI/DLT is an at-grade intersectionthat is intended to support large volume of left turns movements and high volume through movements.
![Page 6: Dot presentation](https://reader030.fdocuments.in/reader030/viewer/2022020505/568c54c01a28ab4916c010af/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
• There is a need to adequately accommodate
future capacity @ SR 400 and SR53
• Reduce Delay Times at this Intersection
• Cost Effectiveness compared to Original
Fly-Over Project.

ADVANTAGES
• Handles significantly more capacity than conventional at-grade intersection designs.
• Substantial savings over grade-separated alternatives while providing equal or better performance.
• Can be deployed in one-, two-, three-, and four-legged versions.
• Reduces the number of conflict points
• Provides clear lines of sight, avoiding the visual barriers created by overpasses.
• Helps reduce pollution by reducing congestion.
• Requires shorter construction time and less utility relocation
