Dopamine VS Dobutamine Dopamine is a vasopressor Dobutamine is an inotrope not a vasopressor Dobutamine exhibits primarily Beta1 effects to aid in increasing CO. Dopamine (depending on doasage) will exhibit Alpha1 effects leading to vasoconstriction and an increase in SVR.It will also exhibit Beta1 effects leading to an incrase in HR at lower doses. Dopamine is a good medication to give in septic shock as it will contribute to SVR through vasoconstriction. Dobutamine is generally given to increase CO.Used in HF and Cardiogenic shock.
