    Other Information:

DON'T BE SEVENTEEN features an outstanding set of modern urban folk songs by

critically-acclaimed singer songwriter JOHN PARKES. The EP explores the themes

of lost love and regret, though it ends with a darkly humorous song about writing

    a hit song!

On previous release Illegal Songs, Parkes pronounced himself the instigator of a

Second Golden Age of Protest - though his songs tackled subjects from the

conventional wisdom about personal relationships to the insanity of modern

economics. Parkes set out to say the un-sayable and said it with incisive wit and

    wisdom.

A less confrontational affair, Dont be Seventeen is actually about Facebook

says John where a long gone lover can reappear in a way that was never

    possible before.

Meanwhile Fireships is a simple metaphor song - burning out my insides,

while History 2 is about someone left behind in East Germany many years ago.

    - From Facebook, through fire and ice to My Hit Song For fantasists and

    losers!

JOHN PARKES has fronted a number of groups much beloved by night-time Radio

One DJs including the late and legendary JOHN PEEL. Bands include cult indie

guitar heroes The CHORUS, GREENHOUSE, FUZZBIRD, THE SINISTER CLEANERS

and latterly WHOLE SKY MONITOR. WSM, as they are also known, were

enthusiastically championed by STEVE LAMACQ on BBC Radio One and received

considerable airplay across Europe for their recent single.

UK tour dates to romote the Don't Be Seventeen EP will be announced soon.
