6. 6. WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE IN A BAD SITUATIONWHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE IN A BAD SITUATION

If abducted, REACT IMMEDIATELY.

If he attempts to move you to another location: DO NOT LET HIM. FIGHT, RUN, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO GET AWAY. EVEN IF HE THREATENS TO HARM YOU. FIGHT ANYWAY.

If you are forced to drive, crash your car into something. Attempt while driving under 10-15mph. If he is driving, find the right time and gouge his eyes. He must watch the road. When he reacts, get out. Even if the car is moving.

Almost all abductions that end in a secondary location never end up positive. You must do all you can to avoid going to this other location. Even risking injury to your body

Page 14: Don Personal Safety For Women Power Point.5

CASE EXAMPLECASE EXAMPLE::

You are forced to drive your vehicle. Attacker threatens harm if you do not comply.

Two arms length distance will keep you out of harms way from grabbing you or hitting you. Any closer and you are at risk.

Walk with head up, phone with 911 ready, confident steady walk, do not avoid looking at person when walking by. Eye contact shows confidence and human connection. May reduce risk of attack.

Carry a small flashlight with you, carry in your hand.

If you find someone is following you or chasing you, scream “Fire or Police” not “Help”. Yelling fire/Police tends to get attention.

10.10. DEFENSE TO ESCAPEDEFENSE TO ESCAPE The eyes are the most vulnerable part of body. Poke the

eyes with fingertips, hard. (This may be your only chance)

Strike the knee hard with your feet. (Again, may have only one chance ) Do with force and confidence. Get away, Run!

Find an obstacle, such as a parked car, and run around it, like: (Ring around the rosy). Sounds silly but it has worked.

Your last hope is getting under the car. The attacker will not be able to get you out w/o significant effort and drawing undo attention. Key: (You must practice this prior to doing it. Again, silly but effective.)

Page 22: Don Personal Safety For Women Power Point.5
