NOTE: In order to protect individuals' privacy, identified populations <5 are reported as ""<5"" and other data that would allow these populations to be derived are not provided "np". This includes cases where populations can be derived by comparing to data in the DSS Payment Demographic Data reports published on data gov.au:
Age Pension is a support payment for people who have reached the qualifying age. From 1 July 2013, the qualifying age for both men and women is 65 years. From 1 July 2017 the Age Pension qualifying age will progressively increase from 65 years to 67 years, reaching 67 years in 2023. This affects both men and women born on or after 1 July 1952. To qualify for the Age Pension, a person must have been an Australian permanent resident for a total of 10 years with at least five of those years being continuous, or have a qualifying residence exemption, or satisfy the residence requirements under an international social security agreement. In some instances, Age Pension recipients have the choice of having their Age Pension paid by either the Department of Human Services (DHS) or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), DHS pays the vast majority of Age Pensions. This data only includes data for the DHS paid recipients. Data includes recipients who are determined to be current (i.e. entitled to be paid) or suspended on the Centrelink payment system.
Includes Carer Payment, Disability Support Pension, Wife (age) Pension, Wife (DSP) Pension and Widow B Pension.
