Venue: Welsh Centre for Anatomical Education, School of Biosciences, Sir Martin Evans Building, Cardiff University

The format for Saturday morning will essentially be the same as Friday but, on Saturday afternoon, there will be mock vivas and OSCEs. Details regarding the format of each day will be explained during the course. The lectures and group demonstrations will be a combination of didactic and interactive sessions, depending on the topic. Since this is a two-day revision course, the focus is on consolidating and enhancing current knowledge, as well as highlighting key aspects which will facilitate success in the exam. As you may already be aware from previous attendees and trainees, the course is very intense and delegates will gain maximum benefit by having revised throughly beforehand. Without recent revision of anatomy, delegates may have difficulty in fully understanding the teaching sessions due the intensity and pace of the course.

This course will be conducted in the format of small group teaching and mock OSCEs, focusing on the clinical and communication aspects tested in the exam. Delegates will have the opportunity to practice both clinical examinations and communication skills. The course is intended to aid the delegate to obtain a focused history, interpret relevant data, communicate effectively, perform clinical examinations efficiently, and present the findings to the examiner in a systematic and concise manner. In addition, this course will aim to consolidate previously acquired knowledge, streamline thought processes, and disseminate essential exam-preparation tips from the tutors.

Breaks for Refreshments and Lunch: Each course will incorporate a 20-minute refreshment break during the morning and afternoon sessions, as well as a 45-50 minute lunch break. During the refreshment breaks, you will be provided with coffee/tea and biscuits.
