Summary• The IEEE has been granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license

from Bluetooth™ SIG to adopt or adapt and copy a portion of the Bluetooth™ Specification Version 1.0 Foundation to be used as base material in the IEEE Standards Project P802.15.1

• The IEEE will publish the 802.15.1 Std in early 2001• The IEEE wants to publish additional collateral in support of the 802.15.1 Std

– IEEE 802.15.1 Designer’s Companion– IEEE Bluetooth™ Pocket Guides

• The Bluetooth™ SIG is working with the IEEE Standards Publishing Programs to publish a Pocket Guide based on the Bluetooth™ Version 1.0 Foundation Core & Profiles Specification for the Fall 2000. It will be ~150pg. Therefore, there will be a Pocket Guide(s). The question is there a reason for a Designer’s Companion on the Std. too.

• This contribution is assuming a Designer’s Companion is needed.

Designer’sCompanion:

The collateral that will help with technology adoption could take the form of Designer’sCompanion or Handbook. Which will be a ~200 page book that complements the Std.
