What are the resources? What are the tasks necessary to make 100% of humanity a success? How can we ever do so without ever advantaging one human at the expense of another? How may we render all the world and all its treasures enjoyable available to all men without having one interfering with or trespassing upon the other? How may we reform the environment so that the integrity of all society is not violated by the free initiatives of the individual nor the integrity of the individualviolated by the developing welfaring advantage and happiness of the many?

- R. Buckminster Fuller

Aloha Yall

OK. I know you came here to find out my recipe for an extremely (almost free) cheap, easily constructed by joe average fuel saving and emission reduction device thatwill cut your fuel bill by a huuge amount AND almost eliminate smoke WHILE cleaning your engine components.  And you will. In abit.

First though, I wish the story to be known. Well ok, my story.  If you don't feel like reading this right now, I understand, though I hope you will get curious later.  You canget the recipe at

Quit your yakking and just gimme da  #$$%^! recipe. (link recipe)

The reason behind this technology and the way I choose to make it massively and easily available is that it has the potential to actually make a difference in air qualityworldwide.  The use of oil though, notwithstanding the increase in fuel efficiency due to this device, I don't anticipate will decrease. People will simply drive more or blowmore leaves.. Remember when we all thought computers making us more efficient will reduce our work? Turns out we just used the freed up time to work more.  Likethat.

No, I anticipate the major impact will be a tangible and almost instantaneous improvement of your local air.  I mean your local local air like your garage when you warmup the car; the truckpark at your diner; the bus station; the ferry; your construction site; your leafblower (admit it, you have one of these mega air polluters). This is theway I hope it will happen. Some people will notice the results of them and their network implementing an actual proactive act of enviromental remediation by making andinstalling an emission control and fuel efficiency device in their engines.  Perhaps this might, I hope, lead to a change in thinking viz. A) I can actually make a difference(not just claim to be a currently trendy "green") B) It is good economics (in your wallet, not on some TV ecopundits's chalk board).   A massive rethinking on an all planetover local level is needed to change things. That is my goal behind my passing on the info.  Maybe people can feel some hope again amid the gloomy outlook beingshilled by mass media. Maybe even revival of the idealism and zeal we once had when we were young? (I am referring to my own age group of B/IPPIES (Boomers/exhippies) and our tarnished hopes here).  This is my own motivation.  Goes to show you can take the hippie out of the commune but you take the commune(ity) out of thehippie.  Some of us simply refuse to cut our hair (even if it is getting a bit thin :-)

I do get a selfish (sorta)  and beautiful benefit doing this.  You know how you feel when you help someone or do a good deed?  I hope you remember anyway.  yeah youdo. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this, heheheh.  For me I always got off on coaching Little League.  The feeling I get when I do, is, for me, right up there in the feelings leaderboard.  This I have figured out lately (from energy cultivation studies-see below) is because FEELINGS ARE REAL AS GRAVITY.  Now it don't take muchof a genius to figure that the cadillac of feelings is Love.  The rest is merely static.  It is so simple to me now.  I feel great when I coach kids because they love me!!  Kidsare pure and innocent and their love is pure and innocent and static free.  We feel this most easily and acutely. I know I am not wrong when I say - Everybody knows this(yadayadayada rational mind schrational mind...).  Oh some of us (too many) go through some period where we let life kick us around so much we think this is not true.Rerealize the truth. Please.

My mentors taught me that if I generate useful new information, Universe will bestow benefits and blessings tenfold upon me.  This is always been true and remains so. There are many people who follow this credo and I admire them as a class.  I wanted to continue to do this.  I still have many ideas and developed projects in the worksas I enjoy Designing (in the Bucky Fuller definition) and I wanted to get them out there.  The real world business bit has never been a pleasure for me. So I decided tojust give the designs away.  No strings attached. Go for it. Run with it. Make it . Use it. Give it. Sell it. Tell it. Spread it. Link it. Translate it. Mirror it. Facebook it. Googleit.  Just please mention the E.L.V.I.S. site (as a way of furthering the distribution).

I want many millions  to use this information, build this device, reduce personal air pollution, save lotsa dough, make a business, rekindle hope, feel enpowered, feel justplain good to do something.  I want the most love vibes possible.  I want to feel, in my deepest soul body the cascade of resplendence. And get wiped out in the laughingtumble cycle of the goodvibes tsunami already approaching. I trust Universe to bestow appropriate blessings upon me.  :-D

I give you the Electrochemical Liquid Vortexing Ionization System.   E.L.V.I.S.   Hey I think its cute and memorable while paying due respects to The King.  Its actuallyTM in the Philippines where I currently live on a small island with my family cultivating bamboo, organic food and reefs.

E.L.V.I.S.  TMElectrochemical Liquid Vortex Ionization System.

An inline catalytic device that electrochemically charges fuel to enhance  dispersion through self repulsion resulting in more complete combustion. E.L.V.I.S. reducessoot; dissolves deposits; increases horsepower; cleans emissions and improves fuel economy. E.L.V.I.S. makes your old engine rock like new.

The Science

Certain metals, under special environments can be persuaded to donate electrons (negatively charged subatomic virtual particles). These free electrons will attachthemselves to molecules of any conductive fluid or gas with which they are in contact.  This causes these molecules to become cationic (acquire a negative electricalcharge).  Since like charges repel, when this fluid (say hydrocarbon fuel) is atomized into a spray, this tendency results in a more finely and widely dispersed cloud.Thisallows more contact with oxygen molecules and increases the efficiency of combustion. This increases the total amount of heat energy (BTUs) available,  preventing soot (unburned fuel) formation as well as consuming any previous soot.  This translates immediately to more clean horsepower from less fuel.

These principles of electrochemistry (over a century old) have been applied in devices both common, (ex. batteries), and classified (ex. rocket engines). Jet PropulsionLab's 1984 report for NASA -  NPO 15715 - REDUCING SOOT IN DIESEL ENGINES - on the effect of charged fuel on soot reduction concluded that charged fuelproduced less soot during combustion.  Their 1998 report, NASA - NPO 20219 - ELECTROSTATIC DISPERSION OF FUEL DROPS TO REDUCE SOOT - comparingelectrostatic ionization vs. atomization of fuel concluded - "Electrostatic charging is superior to mechanical centrifugation for combined soot nucleation reduction andenhancement of evaporation"

Exclusive to E.L.V.I.S., the outbound fuel stream is spun into a high speed vortex that braids the liquid inwardly into a higher energy imploded state. When released bythe fuel pump this pent up energy causes an extra outward impetus to the fuel molecules in addition to the self repelling effects of like charges.

Electrostatic fuel ionization technology has been extensively tested and is currently being used by corporations, government agencies and military forces all over theworld.  Affordable consumer level devices using this principle have not been widely available until the E.L.V.I.S.

Step 1: IngredientsWhether it is to be Utopia or Oblivion will be a touch-and-go relay race right up to the final moment. . . . Humanity is in 'final exam' as to whether or not itqualifies for continuance in Universe. It is the integrity of each individual human that is in final examination. On personal integrity hangs humanity's fate

How to make your own E.L.V.I.S.

Personal and commercial models

Personal model. All small engines, marine/autos/pickups, gas or diesel. Not LPG.

Ingredients:

Copper beadsAluminum beadsZinc or Stainless steel beadsOrdinary plastic inline fuel filtersmall piece of aluminum or stainless steel mesh

Optionalfancy metal screw type cleanable fuel filtersmall Neodymium (rare earth) magnetSmall piece of aluminum

Step 2: Recipe"Wealth is our organized capability to cope effectively with the environment in sustaining our healthy regeneration and decreasing both the physical andmetaphysical restrictions of the forward days of our lives."-R. Buckminster Fuller

Recipe

make 1/2 tsp of copper, aluminum, zinc (or stainless steel) by cutting approx.1/8 inch pieces of approx. 1/8 inch thick wire. For zinc use ordinary galvanized chainlinkfence type wire.

Buy an ordinary economy plastic fuel filter intended for the engine you have in mind. Or use a more expensive metal screw open replacable/cleanable type.

Insert all the beads one by one into the filter through the intake tube. Tap it all down into the canister.

Optional:  Break up a neodymium (rare earth) magnet small enough to insert a small piece in with the beads.

Either 1) or 2)

1) Cut a small unpainted piece of aluminum from a beer can to 1/4 inch long and wide as the inside diameter of output tube. make a longitudinal 1/2 twist in it (like abarber pole). Insert tightly into output tube so that no bead can get through. (test this)

2) Cut a 1/4 inch x 1/2 inch approx piece of stainless steel or aluminum mesh with holes smaller than 1/8 inch. Roll or fold it and insert into output tube so as to preventbeads from coming through. Test this.

Step 3: InstallationQuite clearly, our task is predominantly metaphysical, for it is how to get all of humanity to educate itself swiftly enough to generate spontaneous socialbehaviors that will avoid extinction.- R. Buckminster Fuller

Installation

Install like an ordinary extra fuel filter observing the direction arrows - input tube toward fuel tank, output tube toward fuel pump/carburetor. Must be located after thenormal fuel filter and before the fuel pump/carburetor. Your normal filter now prefilters the fuel  prolonging the life of the E.L.V.I.S. by slowing down clog up.  Use extrafuel hose as needed but locate E.L.V.I.S. as close to fuel pump/carburetor as possible and stabilize it in some manner in a level position away from heat sources.

E.L.V.I.S. will work forever and never wear out. However. Since the EL Cheapo version above uses a paper element filter, it will eventually clog up even with another filterprefiltering the fuel. This will probably take years (if you change the prefilter at recommended intervals).  When it eventually clogs up...well you'll have to pass up anotherStarbucks latte :-)  Those who want to avoid this can use a fancy metal screwtype filter and  replace the filter element with the beads. No clogging problem ever.

http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Fuel-Ionizer-for-real-cheap-Really-works/

Step 4: Commercial modelsCommercial model.

Same recipe and ingredients as the personal model but with the following modifications.

Big trucks, buses, construction machines usually use a large canister type fuel filter with hydraulic type lines and fittings.

The cheapest method:

Fill the element canister 1/2 to 2/3 with beads/magnet so the reservoir is ionized and then sucked through the filter.

The expensive method:

Install another fuel filter canister made as above. This involves extra lines and fittings that have to be made by qualified hydraulic mechanics. This is not expensive as thecomponents are stock.

Step 5: How it works and Test resultsThe Theory

By passing a conductive fluid [diesel or gasoline] over a series ofdissimilar metals an electrolytic charge is generated in the fuel stream. This small ionizing (-) charge primarily effects the fuel stream at thepoint of atomization (dropletting) at the fuel injector nozzle. Anuncharged fuel droplet within the vapor cloud in the combustionchamber tends to clump together creating larger droplets with lesssurface area of fuel exposed to oxygenation at the instant ofcombustion. The negatively charged fuel droplets within the vaporcloud will now repel each other causing smaller droplet diametersand a finer mist. That finer mist burns at statistically higher temperaturesthan a non-ionized fuel stream and significantly improves combustionefficiency resulting in less unburned fuel, soot, smoke and particulate.Reductions in carbon and nitrous based gases are also demonstrated. The efficiency of fuel ionization was demonstrated at NASA-JPL byBellan and Harstad in 1984 and 1998

Electrostatic Dispersion of Fuel Drops To Reduce SootA numerical simulation shows that electrostaticdispersion is superior to mechanical dispersion.

- JPL Labs, Pasadena, California

Electrostatic dispersion of drops of sprayed liquid fuel has been proposed as a technique for reducing the amount of soot formed during burning of the fuel. It is necessaryto disperse fuel drops in order to reduce local concentrations of fuel-rich vapors, because such concentrations favor the nucleation of soot. The present technique can beimplemented by use of a previously developed device called an “electrostatic triode”; this device puts like electrostatic charges onto sprayed fuel drops to generatedispersion of the drops.

Another technique for reducing the formation of soot is mechanical dispersion through utilization of turbulence. The effectiveness of electrostatic versus mechanicaldispersion for reducing the formation of soot has been investigated in a theoretical and computational study.

In the study, the mechanical and thermodynamic interactions between fuel drops and the surrounding gases were simulated numerically by use of a mathematical modelsimilar to the models used in previous studies of sprayed liquid fuels that have been performed by the same innovators and summarized in a number of articles in NASATech Briefs. The model includes, among other conservation equations, equations for the momenta of the drops. The electrostatic forces were included in these equationsfor those drops that were considered to be charged. The calculations for the charged drops were stopped at the Rayleigh limit; that is, secondary atomization was notmodeled.

The results of the numerical simulations were interpreted as signifying that electrostatic dispersion would be superi- or to mechanical dispersion for reducing thenucleation of soot; this finding gave rise to speculation that perhaps a combination of electrostatic and mechanical dispersion might be even more effective. However, further numerical simulation revealed that for the purpose of reducing the formation of soot, the combination electrostatic and mechanical dispersion would not offer a

significant advantage over electrostatic dispersion alone.

This work was done by Josette Bellanand Kenneth Harstad of Caltech forNASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.NPO-20219

" ... It has been shown that drop-induced mechanical centrifugation cannot achieve the same benefi-cial effects as electrostatic dispersion... to reduce soot nucleation while promoting evaporation. ...electrostatic charging is superior to mechanical centrifugation forcombined soot nucleation reduction and enhancement of evaporation."

TEST RESULTS

There is no shortage of data to support the effectiveness of bimetallic ionizationin dispersal of fuel particles. The following data is from informal tests using my15 year old Honda gas scooter and 9 yr old KIA diesel jeep.

Each has been on the E.L.V.I.S. since 2006 so we expect there to be cumulative cleaning effects of ionization. This is borne out by their baseline ( E.L.V.I.S.removed) readings which are above norm by about 100%, a result consideredby the inspector as unprecedented even in new engines. When the E.L.V.I.S.was reinstalled for the test, a further significant effect on hydrocarbon content(HC), ie smoke was noted; Carbon monoxide (CO) were also hugely reduced.

Step 6: Applications and benefitsAs it is cliched "in the end" problem solutions always cost the least if paid for adequately at outset of the vital problem's recognition. Being vital, theproblems are evolutionary, inexorable, and ultimately unavoidable by humanity. The constantly put-off or under-met costs and society's official bumbling ofthem clearly prove that man does not know at present what wealth is nor how much of whatever it may be is progressively available to him

Step 7: FAQSince synergy is the only word in our language meaning behavior ofwholes unpredicted by behavior of their parts, it is clear that societydoes not think there are behaviors of whole systems unpredicted bytheir separate parts. This means that society's formally-accreditedthoughts and ways of accrediting others are grossly inadequate incomprehending the nonconceptual qualities of the scenario" universal evolution." Quite clearly, our task is predominantly metaphysical, for it is how to get all of humanity to educate itself swiftly enough to generate spontaneous socialbehaviors that will avoid extinction.

 rasraster says:  Aug 30, 2010. 8:31 AM  REPLYmakenakai -

I looked at your test results.

There's only one baseline measurement, so it's really not possible to statistically know the true baseline values, but the ELVIS tests have an average CO%of 0.86 and a standard deviation of 0.25%. This excludes the two measurements with 0.00 CO%, as those should almost certainly be taken as outliers. Thebaseline CO value is 1.7 standard deviations from the average ELVIS CO measurement.

Given the variation in your data, if you test 50 times you would expect 5 results that are at least 1.7 standard deviations from the mean. Typical statisticalsignificance of a difference between the two conditions - with and without ELVIS - would be assigned if the distance is 1.96 standard deviations or more.

Regarding the hydrocarbons, your baseline is only 0.32 standard deviations from the mean of the ELVIS tests. By all measures, the two conditions can bestatistically assumed to be identical.

Do you have more baseline data? That would help firm up the interpretation - it could even help your case.

BTW they add something to disel to increase the conductivity for safety purposes.(lookup Unichem 7551) And gues what ..bio diesel doesntneed ANY additives and shows good conductivity.  I donot have access to bio diesel but will be happy if some one finds it out.. That proves in thoeryatleast E.L.V.I.S should work for bio diesel as well.  and finally one doubt i am an electronics guy I am thinking how much ionization can fuel take beforeany sparking occurs. ... anyone..? and do you like the National Geographic Channel Kai ;).

rasraster says:  Aug 30, 2010. 8:04 AM  REPLYHi techraptor, You're confusing increased conductivity to disperse a static charge with the fluid being conductive. The conductivity of diesel withUnichem, and the conductivity of biodiesel, is around 1/10th or less that of what might be considered a "conductive fluid." See:http://www.mvfri.org/Contracts/Final%20Reports/Chilworth_final.pdf. Diesel with Unichem and biodiesel (either with or without Unichem) is sufficientlyconductive to not build up a static charge, but not conductive enough to appreciably hold/pass ions through the liquid.

rasraster says:  Aug 30, 2010. 12:32 PM  REPLYHi makenakai,

Rentar's system is not the same principle. They do not ionize the fuel, only polarize individual molecules. Or so they claim; I don't know if it's trueor not. But it's more plausible because creating dipoles is much easier than ionizing, in the absence of ions or electrons in the environment.

They also create hydrogen gas, via catalysis, which speeds up the flame and allows the engine to be run at leaner conditions. All the independentverification looks compelling to me.

http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Fuel-Ionizer-for-real-cheap-Really-works/

Whether or not all their principles are sound I can't say, but on first scan I'm much more inclined to think that they've got something real.

rasraster says:  Aug 27, 2010. 12:17 PM  REPLYHi makenakai, Thank you for the interesting instructable. Just a couple of corrections. First, negatively charged ions are anions, not cations. Second, soot isnot unburnt fuel but, depending on the fuel and conditions, rather the product of either (1) fuel that has broken down to small molecules and then recombinedto make fairly mega-molecules, or (2) early byproducts of fuel combined with the smaller hydrocarbon molecules. What kills soot is not high temps but ratherthe presence of oxygen, which "chews it up." Regarding ionization potentials, it's true that molecules can be ionized but the amount of energy it takes to do itcan be very high. Those ionization potentials are typically published for use in ionizers that boil off electrons at fairly high energy, or other processes thatimpart a good amount of energy to a molecule. (This isn't to say that there may be no ionization taking place in your process, but I wouldn't count on havinga lot of electrons with energies of ~10 eV, as it would take to ionize octane. That's a HUGE amount of energy for thermal processes - molecular bondenergies are on the order of 1 eV) Finally, Batdragon's explanation involves the initial fuel containing a bunch of positive and negative ions that basicallybalance each other until they hit the Elvis. That isn't the case - the fuel the comes from the pump or tank or whatever is pretty much fully nonionic to beginwith. What I suspect your process may be doing - and I need to read it carefully to see - is imparting static electricity to the surface of the droplets, wherethey basically hang out and don't ionize the liquid. You can still have droplet repulsion without ionization. Also, what's the deal with the magnet andbacteria??? I'm not familiar with such an effect. Cheers!

makenakai says:  Aug 30, 2010. 12:31 AM  REPLYbuild one and try it. its only a coupla bucks. use an older engine. it won't harm anything. FEEl if there is any effect. empirical testing might influence yourtheorizing... aloha

rasraster says:  Aug 30, 2010. 4:11 AM  REPLYHi makenakai, Fair enough. But even if I get increased mileage from it, how will I know that that is due to electrostatic charging and a vortex effectand all that? To be honest and fair, for a variety of reasons that I'd like to keep personal, I won't be in a position to make a test any time soon. So I'llrefrain from further comment. I hope that there IS a good benefit from your device, WHATEVER the explanation. All the best to you and those who tryout your technology! Cheers!

rasraster says:  Aug 27, 2010. 1:25 PM  REPLYI checked some of your key references: Bellan and Harstad use very high voltages - 100V to kiloVolts. These cannot be produced by the Seebeck effect (thevoltage produced from two dissimilar metals). The Berlin et al patent used special metals (not the ones you use) for catalytic effect involving creation of ametal hydride. The "Inline Catalyst" patent you cited is no. 5881702, not no. 6000381. The fuel needs to be heated by the engine itself before going into thetreatment device, though the temperatures at which hydrocarbons crack (their identified mechanism, not mine) are very unlikely to be reached there. Thewalls of the treatment device housing have a specific metallic composition. There is supposedly charging due to "friction" in the device (doubtful) and evencapture of radio waves (doubtful that it's enough to ionize the liquid, even if it's happening). Keep in mind that patent applicants do not ever have to build thedevices they patent, nor do they have to prove that they work. If the patent examiner believes the writeup, they will issue the patent. In this case, I think thepatent examiner bought a three-dollar bill. Cheers!

dejure says:  Aug 19, 2010. 11:33 AM  REPLYFood for thought: The reason we did away with lead in our gas was that it was a heavy metal (the proof of the danger of such things being emitted fromexhaust systems can be seen by how many dumb drivers we now find on the roads (grin)). With the foregoing in mind, and without having dwelt on thematter for more than a few seconds, is there a possibility this would result in heavy metals being kicked out through the exhaust?

savagesmith says:  Nov 29, 2009. 1:05 AM  REPLYUnless I'm mistaken batteries rely on an acid or an alkaline as a conductive fluid, but hydrocarbons are neither.  Please, I'm not trying to criticize, I just don'tsee how a fluid without those properties becomes conductive.  Honestly, the NASA studies are a little above my current level and don't seem to explainsimply what method they're using to apply the charge to the fuel.  Can you put it in Layman's (chem 101) terms?

Mahalo!

dejure says:  Aug 19, 2010. 11:30 AM  REPLYWhile batteries play with acid for the liquid, you are dealing with heavy metals, without which they would not function. This is neither a yea or a nay to theconcept., but just to stir the pot a bit.

savagesmith says:  Nov 26, 2009. 11:12 PM  REPLYGasoline is a hydrocarbon, neither acid nor base, so how does it create an electrolytic reaction between dissimilar metals?  How is it that it takes an electricalcharge?  There are no free H+ ions or OH- ions, so what is going on chemically?  I like your idea and I want to believe it works, but after talking to the headof my college's chemistry department I have some doubts.  Please let me know what is going on electrochemically to create the -charge in the fuel.

kikiclint says:  Aug 18, 2010. 11:25 AM  REPLYI am not an authority, but plastics can hold a static charge, and what would cause the droplets to spread and stay small would be a static charge whichinsulators can hold. My only guess about the originations of the charge would be that gasoline is a mixture of many things, including hydrocarbons, andalchohol, and many a thing unpronounceable. I would recon that one of those things allows an electrochemical reaction to occur.

makenakai says:  Nov 27, 2009. 6:02 PM  REPLYhi savagesmith,

your Chem prof is not very good...    Its not my theory. it is a well established principle that has been used for almost a century - batteries are based onthis. metals give up electrons in a conductive medium. Its called Ionization Potential.  Romanader says:  May 8, 2010. 7:06 PM  REPLYHey, thought you'd get a kick out of this:http://www.goodforgas.com/documents/appnotes/PID_Gas_Table.pdfIt's a gigantic table of Chemical ionization potentials for various chemicals. And if you don't mind reading Harvard literature, they have a great dissertation on ionizing hydrocarbons here:http://www.chem.harvard.edu/mass/ion_selection/hydrocarbons.htmlI figure this should help all the "Hydrocarbon isn't acidic" arguments. Btw, Acids are used mainly because the Hydronium Ion reacts with varioussubstances to release the hydrogen, oxidize the material it's combining with, thus releasing the negative charge and creating electricity. Othercompounds and such do the same thing, just without all the chemistry. Try buffing your socks on the carpet. No acid to be found there, but plenty ofelectricity generated.

grimgroper says:  Jun 4, 2010. 11:43 AM  REPLYim curious to what the magnets do? also if the fuel came in contact with anything metal would it not ground the charge,so in turn would the fuel particles beattracted to the sides of the cylinder, would this be enhanced if the particles of fuel carried the same charge as the engine so the spread evenly throughoutthe cylinder?

Batdragon says:  May 16, 2010. 4:43 PM  REPLYA UK company selling the same idea, much better prices than Rentar though. To put my own thoughts to some of the questions asked here.

Drasser - You would put it before the fuel pump (low pressure) but after the filter. I would really not recommend putting it right on the high pressure line asyou say it will go pop and spray fuel over your nice hot engine, Now that is a recipe for disaster

Savagesmith - It is not the PH of the fuel that causes the catalytic reaction, it is the properties of the metals. The Fuel is being used as a conductor forthe metals which when is passed thought fuel the polarisation occurs. The process could easily be achieved by the use of an electrical input through anodesand cathodes (positive and negative plates) BUT Who in their right mind would put electricity in to the fuel line, look what a spark does in the combustionchamber!!!!!

If you read this site about the Deionization of water http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/water-education2/49-water-di-process.htm you can start to get anunderstanding of what is going on. Though all reports say that it is a true catalyst, there is a tiny bit of erosion at the molecular level of the material, so if itwas to run constant for 100 years then there might be erosion evidence (but do not quote me).

I will try to put it into layman’s terms for you as I see it (I welcome any corrections by Chemists and Physics people out there as I am electrical based) this isgoing to be a very simplified version of what is going on. Ok here we go. The fuel is a complex hydrocarbon molecule primarily neutral in charge (havingequal positive and negative ions), the metals are dissimilar and are biased in a certain way (positive or negative). They are trying to pass their ions on whiletaking from another, think of it as three people in a triangle passing 3 balls, the object is not to have any balls, A passes to B but receives C, B passes to Cbut receives from A, C passes to A but receives from B, and around it goes. Thinking of that process, it can only be done in a conductive solution, in thiscase the fuel. The fuel acting as a carrier for the ball (positive ion) becomes charged so to neutralise itself it rips a negative one off the next hydrocarbonmolecule as it passes through the materials causing the change (the metals). As there is a flow of the fuel the molecules will emerge as some positive andonly a few negative, but now cant swap fully with their opposites as they are not enough of them to do so. These molecules are primarily positively chargedlike poles on a magnet, they want to get away from the others like themselves (similar repel). So when they are atomised in the chamber they are easier to

http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Fuel-Ionizer-for-real-cheap-Really-works/

separate into a finer mist. This mist is burnt more evenly and efficiently and thus giving the wanted results of better fuel efficiency and better horse power.

This is the theory behind it, I hope it helps you. Though I have seen loads of hearsay and conjecture about its effectiveness, both from “Eye witnesses” and“Official bodies”, I have yet to be convinced that it will do anything and that the results seen are nothing more than a placebo effect. I hope that it does workas I intend to fit one to my car. I drive a 97 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Diesel Turbo. I know how much I get out of her and how responsive she is as I regularly do a250 mile round trip. For those that are interested I get 45mpg (UK gallon), and she is a slow beast, but keeps on plodding (201,000+ on the clock)
