What is Diversity – What

does it mean? What does it mean when colleges and

universities talk about “diversity”? The

word is often used when talking about

the presence of people on a campus

who differ in terms of race, culture,

ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic

status, sexual orientation, and ability.

It also means the presence of people

with diverse opinions, political views,

and academic passions. However, a

true, comprehensive definition of

diversity should also include ways in

which a diverse population engages

with and explores its differences

What Exactly is Bullying?

A person is bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly

and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or

more other persons, and he or she has difficulty defending

himself or herself. This definition includes three important

components:

1. Bullying is aggressive behavior that involves unwanted,

negative actions.

2. It involves a pattern of behavior repeated over time.

3. It involves an imbalance of power or strength.
