There’s still time to add players to your teams.

A question: What does it means to have a match considered to be played in good faith. The answer to this is found in The Code, Part 2—The Players’ Guide to Fair Play & the Un-written Rules of Tennis under Principles—THE CODE 45, #2. Points played in good faith are counted. The last paragraph of #2 addresses the match: “Shaking hands at the end of a match is an acknowledgment by the players that the match is over.”

Watch for a district survey regarding the new 2013 league structure and age groups that will be offered. We need everyone to participate, this will decide what age groups play, and when. This will be done on sur-vey monkey and those participating will be in a draw-ing for cash and prizes. Congratulations to the Julie Korsnack 8.0 Sr. Mixed team below l, and the 7.0 Sr. Mixed Connie Rush team below r, for representing and winning the Midwest Sec-tion Championships at their respective levels!

From the President’s Corner:

I am delighted to begin my two year term as President of Northwest Ohio Ten-nis Association. With summer months just around the corner, we have had a great deal of success exposing new players to the game of tennis. Our Play Days for the 10 & Under population allowed us to provide free junior member-ship to all new players. Tennis is the sport of a lifetime for all ages to enjoy.

This summer we will continue to host our premier junior event, the Junior Quali-fier at Jermain and Ottawa Parks. Also, the Junior Team Tennis Champion-ships and Adult and Sr. League District Championships will be hosted there as well. Northwest Ohio will be hosting the Ohio State Adult and Senior Champi-onships in August. Shadow Valley will be the site where you can come and watch the best of the best compete for the rights to move on to the section championships.

As we look to the future, we will be promoting new adult age formats in 2013. Our board, NWOTA staff and committee members are diligently working to make this transition a smooth one.

In closing, thank you for your continued support of the game of tennis!
