Our Changeover Night always signals in the start of a new Rotary year, last

Saturday night was no exception.

We experienced a very busy and well organised presentation.

We were honoured to have present our 2014/15 District Governor Brian Eddy

and Pamela, District Governor 2013/14 Erwin Biemel and Carol, DG 2012/13

Bob Cooper and Wendy and last but certainly not least DG 04/05 John Iriks and

Chris, what a line-up of Rotary International talent.

Many awards were presented on the night, the highlights being a PHF to our City

of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams, a PHF to PE Max Bird and PHF Sapphire to

PP Bob Thompson, our heartfelt congratulations to all.

Two senior members stood down after 3 years in the position,

Secretary PP Genevieve Carr and Treasurer PDG John Iriks handed over the

reins to PP Brian McCallum and PDG Bob Cooper respectively. We sincerely

thank Genevieve and John for their dedicated service and welcome Brian and

Bob to those very important club positions.

Carol was awarded a PHF by our Rotary Club for her

outstanding contribution to the Community of

Kwinana as a City of Kwinana Councillor, Mayor

and Citizen of our City

President Elect Max Bird recieves his PHF from DG

Brian Eddy, Max a member of our club since 1999

In recent years Max has been the driving force behind

an East Timor Water Project and has recently been

successful in attracting a significant Rotary

Foundation Grant to enable the project to continue

and grow.

PP Bob Thompson, tonight awarded a Sapphire Pin to

add to his PHF.

Bob has made a significant contribution not only to

our Rotary Club but to Rotary District 9465, The City

of Kwinana as a Councillor and to our general

community over a long period of time.

PDG John Iriks was the recipient of our Rotary Club

Fellowship Award for 2013/14

An Italian walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer

that he is going to Italy on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the Italian

hands over the keys to a new Ferrari.

The car is parked on the street in front of the bank. The Italian produces the title and everything checks

out. The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan.

The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the Italian for using a $250,000 Ferrari

as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank's

underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the Italian returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.38. The

loan officer says, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this Transaction has worked

out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled.

While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire.

What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"

The Italian replies: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.38

and expect it to be there when I return?"
