Sites• Sites are designed for sharing documents across the entire organization. Team sites specifically

are built and ready for you to add company-wide documents

• The Team Site can be viewed by everyone in your organization, i.e. those having an email address at your domain.

• Everything in the Team Site is shared by default – no sharing permissions need to be set up.

• The Public Sites can be used to develop a company website or other informational pages.

• You can build new sites for use with specific groups of employees in your organization.

• New sites can be built for specific purposes. Perhaps you need a place to store HR documents, maybe there are contracts the officers need access to.

• Clicking on the ‘+new’ button (seen in image), will get you started. This link delves more into structuring your sites.

OneDrive For Business

• Think of OneDrive for Business as your personal storage. This is where you put your files, folders, videos, photos, .pdfs, just about any kind of file type.

• Things stored in OneDrive are meant for your use, access, editing, storage and retrieval purposes. If you are new to O365, make sure you click the gear button in the upper right after you log in and get your OneDrive App.

• You’ll need to get the OneDrive for Business app and install it before you can use OneDrive for Business on your desktop. When the app is installed, you’ll see the OneDrive for business icon in Windows Explorer.

OneDrive For Business

• You’ll need to install the OneDrive for Business App-you can do this from within the web O365 interface, or go to the Windows Store.

• OneDrive for Business is storage for all your business files-not shared automatically with anyone else in your organization.

• Designed for storing just about any kind of document that you don’t need to share.

OneDrive For Business• Here’s a look at my OneDrive from the web

interface.

• Folders are arranged alphabetically with documents not in folders under the folders.

• Any folder or document can be shared – just click to the left of the folder icon and go to ‘share’.

• Remember you have unlimited storage with OneDrive for Business and your Office 365 subscription. (Unlimited storage is being rolled out in early 2015.)

OneDrive For Business• You can organize your files, folders right from Windows

Explorer and they’ll sync up to the cloud.

• When you have the app, you’ll be able to see the OneDrive for Business icon along with your SharePoint (this is Sites) icon in Explorer.

• Here’s a look at my Windows Explorer in my Favorites. It’s placed here automatically and at the top of my screen so it’s easily expanded and I’m ready to work with any files there.

• SharePoint contains all the files my organization has shared with me and OneDrive contains all my files

• Share any of your folders or individual files from the web interface.

Distinguish Between OneDrive for Business and Sites When Using Office 365• If you’re a new user of O365, I hope this brief introduction has helped you. If

you’re a very small organization, you may want to first utilize the endless storage available to you with your OneDrive for business.

• Take a few minutes to get your business documents in this system and then relax because you’ll be able to log into your O365 account from anywhere to access your documents.
