For the month of September, Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) program will be honoring our Gold Star Mothers and Families who have lost a son, daughter, brother or sister while defending our nation. The last Sunday in the month of September has been proclaimed as Gold Star Mothers and Families Day. This year, Gold Star Mothers and Families Day will be held on September 27th. The SOS program will be honoring our Gold Star Mothers and Families and our Fallen Heroes during different events throughout the month of September.

Gold Star Mothers and Families Day Ceremony @ National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacifi c - September 27thJoin Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) for Lei of Remembrance at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacifi c in Punchbowl. Sesame Street/ USO Experience for Military Families @ Martinez Physical Fitness Center - October 2ndSesame Street and the USO are bringing the furry, fuzzy and friendly Muppets to military families around the world.

Two shows:MOVING SHOW (October 2, 3 PM)Featuring Katie, a military kid on Sesame Street who is moving to a new base.

TRANSITIONS SHOW ( October 2, 6 PM)Featuring Katie, a military kid transitioning back to civilian life at Sesame Street after living on military bases the past few years.

Jump, Bounce & Play with EFMP - September 9th Jump – Bounce – Play with EFMP at iTrampoline: September 9, 12 - 1 PM, iTrampoline, 91-029 Malakole Street, Kapolei, Hawaii 96707. EFMP invites Exceptional Family Members and their families to jump-bounce-play at iTrampoline. ACS EFMP has reserved an hour spot for families to enjoy indoor recreation. Home Alone Safety Awareness Class - September 19th Join us for a fun and interactive workshop that provides parents and children with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to stay Home Alone! This class is for ages 91/2 and up. Bring a snack or drink. A parent (or caregiver) must attend with their children and should be signed-up prior to attending. Big Brother Big Sister Military Mentoring Program Registration @ CYS SERVICES School Liaison Office Youth ages 9 - 17 of active duty military personnel are encouraged to participate in the Big Brother Big Sister Military Mentoring Program (BBBSMMP). Military youth can be matched with a military or civilian adult that can serve as a mentor for them to assist in their personal development emotionally, mentally, and physically. Contact the School Liaison Office at 655-8326 to sign up to be a youth or adult mentor in the program.

PTP participants are advocates for their peers participating in monthly teleconference calls or video teleconference with other youth in the Pacific. The Blue Star Card Program is a Family and MWR discount and activity program for Spouses and Families of Army Soldiers deployed, extended overseas TDY and on unaccompanied PCS assignments.

Why do we do it?Family and MWR recognizes the sacrifices Families of Soldiers make every day. We provide the Blue Star Card Program in appreciation of their selfless service to the Army Community and to demonstrate our commitment to providing quality programs and services for a quality life.

New Blue Star Card EligibilitySpouses of deployed, TDY and unaccompanied PCSed Soldiers and DA civilians to an overseas location for greater than 90 days Soldiers are eligible to sign up for a Blue Star Card, which provides discounts at many Family and MWR facilities, activities and special events. Your Blue Star Card will be valid throughout the entire mission. To get your card, print an application online at www.bluestarcardhawaii.com or visit Army Community Service on Schofi eld Barracks or Fort Shafter.
