Discography This discography represents the first attempt to identity the recordings of Joe Darensbourg and to list them in chronological order. Inevitably there are omissions- for example, the session with Louis Prima in the early 1960s has not been documented- and it is my hope that future editions of Telling it Like it is will incorporate revisions as they are made. I have been greatly assisted by Joe's own recollections and by access to his record collection. Others who have helped are Floyd Levin, who has been indefatigable in his efforts to locate rare copies of Darensbourg's records, Sid Bailey, who has researched Joe's Ory period and made copies and references available to me, and Dave Bennett, who has allowed me to check the discography against items in his collection. To these gentlemen and many others goes my gratitude. A similar acknowledgement must be made to the standard works of i:liscography, namely J. G. Jepsen's Jazz Records, 1942-67 and W. Bruyninckx's 60 Years of Recorded Jazz, 1917-1977. Additional source material has come from The AFRS "Jubilee" Transcription Programs: an Exploratory Discography by R. E. Lotz and E. Neuert (Frankfurt am Main, 1985) and Boy from New Orleans: Louis "Satchmo "Armstrong, on Records, Films, Radio and Television by H. Discography

This discography represents the first attempt to identity the recordings of Joe Darensbourg and to list them in chronological order.

Westerberg (Copenhagen, 1981), and to these authors I extend my particular thanks. Where the data shown here differs from previously published information, it may be assumed that the new information is correct.
