IntroductionCurrently a high number of T1 failures are observed in the field. The purpose of this document is to provide a guideline to the RF teams in the field regarding the procedure for Quality Supervision of T1. This process will enable RF teams to locate and provide enough information to customers transport engineer regarding T1 fault for necessary resolution. Please ensure this document is limited to internal use

Problem DescriptionA high failure rate of the T1 has been reported. The issue does not appear to be frequency or market dependent. Failure of T1 is resulting to degraded performance of the network. Following degradation are reported in relation to T1 failure: - Handover Failure - Drop due Sudden Loss - Drop due to other reason A preliminary analysis of the available information indicates faulty /drifted T1 takes effected cell out of synchronization, which causes above said performance degradation. This is to note that T1 fault is not the only issue for above said performance degradation rather it is one of the issues.

Supervision Procedure: (Short Term)Following command generates a printout containing the quality situation for the specified Digital Paths (DIP). Up to 16 DIPs can be specified in each command. The order does not remain after system restart. DTQUP: DIP=XXXXX where XXXXX= Digital path name To find Cells TG# Following command is used: RXTCP:MOTY=RXOTG,CELL=YYYY; where YYYY= cell Prints the transceiver group (TG) number assigned for the cell. The printout reflects:

RXOTG-TG; e.g. RXOTG-13 which indicates the TG# is 13. Notice that the co-site cells are connected to same TG. Note: Following two commands may not be required, If DIP naming convention is known to market RF team. To find mapping between Device and TG following command is used RXAPP:MOTY=RXOTG; Prints all TGs in the BSC that have defined Abis paths. To find mapping between Device and DIP following command is used NTCOP:SNT=ALL,DIPINF; Above four commands will enable to run quality supervision on a DIP knowing the site no. Note: To start with supervision process, engineers may want to have a printout about the state for all inter-exchange digital path connected with BSC. This can be done using following command: DTSTP:DIP=ALL,TYPE=iex;

Historical Supervision ProcedureSuspected T1s may be monitored for longer time by initiating following command. DTQHI:DIP= XXXXX where XXXXX= Digital path name This command initiates historical storage of quality data for one or several DIPs. Upto 16 DIPs can be specified in each command. The order does not remain after system restart. DTQDP:DIP== XXXXX where XXXXX= Digital path name Above command prints the historical quality data for the specified digital path. Only one DIP can be specified in each command.

Printout Reading/AnalysisAll supervision printouts provides data for incoming (BTS to BSC) and outgoing (BSC-BTS) direction, Incoming measurement are defined as near end (e.g. N-ES N-SES N-UAS N-UAV etc) where outgoing measurement are defined as far end (e.g. F-ES F-SES F-UAS F-UAV etc.) : Example printouts such as DTQUP, DTQDP, NTCOP, RXTCP, RXAPP and glossary are annexed for reference. Following tree may be followed towards problem severity Minor ES SES Major UAS

In addition to above slip grater than 5 in count should be considered major problem. Needless to say no slip is acceptable.
