Diminished 7 th

Diminished 7th, the official music club of Bangalore Institute of Technology, was started in the year 2014 by young musically inspired minds for the purpose of providing a platform for the numerous talented students hidden amongst the dense population consisting if a mix and match from all over. It mainly focused on promoting and honing these hidden talents in all, be it a student or a professor.

The tremendously talented club members have represented the institute on various occasions at several stages, like the National Aquatic Meet hosted by BIT, at different inter college fests like, Aatmatrisha(PESU), 8th Mile(RVCE), Manthan(BIT) and many more.

The most recent talent showdown for the club members was at the yearly VTU fest held in Dharwad (academic year 2019-2020). The western band of the club won the second place in the event “Western Group Song”, performing all-time hit songs by Linkin Park, Greenday and Oasis, with Ovais, Deepika, Alan, and Ashvini onvocals,Sa on keys, Sanjay killing it with the rap, Bhavesh nailing every guitar chord and Shishir on drums, acting as the backbone and time keeper of the band.

The club is currently headed by Shishir Singh (President), and Ovais Kareem (Vice President), with a core team consisting of Deepika R.V, Bhavesh Prasad, Sanjay and Mayank Kumar Rana. The club hosts many yearly events like Aalap, the singing competition, to keep an eye out for talented singers. There are monthly events like Quadrangle Sessions, where one and all can come and showcase their musical talents, with no language or genre barriers.

Few members of the club also play in a professional band called SEHER, and perform live at venues all over the city as well as in other cities as well, and also for large scale corporate events. The members of the band include Ovais Kareem (Lead Vocalist), Bhavesh Prasad (Lead Guitarist), Animesh Sharma (Rhythm Guitarist and Shishir Singh (Drummer and Background Vocalist).
