Airbnb 360 Live Video

Source: http://www.adweek.com/news/technology/airbnb-testing-360-live-video-twitter-and-periscope-inspire-vacation-planners-175406

WHAT

● Airbnb is testing 360 Live video on Twitter and Periscope to inspire vacation-minded consumers toward traveling.

● They are trying to give travellers access to the local communities and help them find the hidden gems in the places they travel through videos in which locals share their perspective.

WHAT WE THINK● Great way to leverage the new video trend to

give travelers a glimpse of new experiences ahead of time.

● Guests can now book accommodations along with experiences.

● Perfect way to bring a meaningful added value to their target.

Twitter: Customize Your Page

Source: http://www.adweek.com/news/technology/more-customer-service-brands-are-getting-creative-twitters-new-curated-profiles-175225

WHAT

● Twitter now offers a new feature that gives brands more creativity and control over how their accounts appear.

● The design tool called “Featured Tweets” separates a company's page into three sections instead of having a running string of chronological tweets in Twitter's website and mobile app.

● Twitter is also encouraging brands to insert more videos and pictures into their feeds as part of the platform's move to become more of a video hub.

WHAT WE THINK● An interesting attempt to refresh the platform.● This is an added value for the brands as they can customize

and better organize their tweets.● We doubt that this will help the platform become a video hub

as other mediums that do it better are already established.

Inspirational Moments

WHAT● David Beckham is showing his body art on display to

bring awareness to violence against children.

● His tattoos come alive, illustrating animated scenes of abuse and bullying, soundtracked by cruel laughter and fearful screams.

● The commercial ends with David Beckham saying: "Violence against children marks them forever. It's wrong. End it."

WHAT WE THINK● Good use of an influencer to bring attention to a topic that

needs more attention ● However, the critique is based on faulty logic as although

both mark for life, tattoos are a chosen whereas those kids did not choose their situation

● Again, bringing awareness around a topic is a good start but acting towards the cause is the priority

WHAT● Honda is tapping into virtual reality for a new holiday

marketing campaign● To raise money for the hospital, Honda created the

Candy Lane VR experience, a captivating VR video for children who were stuck in the hospital rather than being at home with their families’ this holiday season.

● This year, for every “like” the campaign got, the car manufacturer donated one dollar to pediatric patients at a children’s hospital.

WHAT WE THINK● Heartfelt gesture to raise money and bring up the spirits

of these children by bringing them some joy during the holidays.

● However, if Honda really cared, the full donation would be made out of generosity rather than asking for likes to trigger donations.
