MAINTAINENCE OF SSDAC
Presented bySandeep AggarwalTechnical Manager
Central Electronics Ltd.
MAINTENANCE OF SSDAC VERIFY SYSTEM HAS BEEN COMMISSIONED AS PER PRE
COMMISSIONING CHECKLIST & IS PROPERLY SIGNED BY CEL MOVEMENT OF TROLLEY’S HAS BEEN TESTED DURING PARALLEL
WORKING TRAINING PROVIDED TO STAFF SYSTEM PERFORMANCE SHALL BE SENT TO CEL REGULARLY. CONDUCT REGULAR TRAINING SESSIONS AT CEL OR YOUR
TRAINING INSTITUTES BY CEL STAFF.
MEASURE THE Tx COIL (21 KHz & 23 KHz) AND Rx COIL (21 KHz & 23 KHz) SIGNAL LEVELS. THEY SHOULD BE WITHIN LIMITS
MEASURE THE OUTPUT SIGNALS OF CARDS AT THE TEST POINTS PROVIDED ON CARDS
CHECK AND MEASURE THE INPUT POWER SUPPLY TO SSDAC
RESET BOX SHOULD BE INSPECTED FOR ITS PROPER FUNCTIONING
ALL CABLE CONNECTIONS ON THE CT BOARD OF APPARATUS AT LOCATION BOXEX SHOULD BE CHECKED

MAINTENANCE LOG SHEET FOR SSDAC
Kindly check the page 6 of 7 of pre commissioning checklist issued by RDSO
ALL EARTH CONNECTIONS SHOULD BE EXAMINED MONTHLY FOR CONNECTIONS AND SOLDERED JOINTS TO BE IN PROPER CONDITION
ARMOR OF QUAD CABLE SHOULD BE PROPERLY EARTH RESISTANCE OF EVERY EARTH SHOULD BE MEASURED ON
YEARLY BASIS. INSTALLATIONS NEAR SSP & FEEDER POINTS MAY BE
PROPERLY EARTHED

RECOMMENDED SPARES
The following spares are to be procured separately for 5 nos. of Single Section Digital Axle Counter working in field1 SCC 1&2 cards (Card 1 & 2) 2 Nos
2 MLB 1&2 cards (Card 3 & 4) 2 Nos
3 Modem card (Card 6) 1 No
4 Relay driver (Card 7) 1 No
5 Event Logger Card (Card 5) 2 Nos
6 DC-DC converter (Card 8) 1 No
7 Axle detectors (AD711) 21 KHz/23KHz (TX coil) 1 No
8 Axle detectors (AD711) 21 KHz/ 23 KHz (Rx coil) 1 No
9 Reset box RB-259 1 No
10 Vital Relay Box with Relay 24V, 1000 ohm, Q type 1 No
11 Surge voltage protection device box (SV-121) 1 No
DO’S & DON’TDO’S The inter connection drawings are to be followed for connecting the Transmitter &
Receiver coils. Tx1 is 21 KHz, Tx2 is 23 KHz & Rx1 and Rx2 coils are 21 KHz & 23 KHz, respectively.
Ensure that Receiver and Transmitter coil cables have been laid in different pipes. Ensure that both the TX coils & Rx coils are having proper alignment on Rail. Ensure that packing of sleepers with ballast on both sides of Axle detector is
proper. Check that metal sheaths of the outdoor cable are connected to earth at both ends The recommended cables for wiring of the system at site should be used. The steady Battery voltage 24V should be maintained. The cable connections should not be connected loosely. The M.S Circular connectors of SSDAC are checked and maintained firmly. The SSDAC & Reset box is provided with sealing arrangement. They should be
sealed at site. Resetting should be done only after ensuring that there is no train in the section
DON’T Don’t install the Axle detectors near the rail joint (should be more than
6 sleepers away). Don’t install the Axle detectors where the rail is badly worn out. Don’t cut or join the Transmitter / Receiver cables supplied along with
the coil. It would result in change of frequency of signal. Don’t lay the TX and RX coil cables in the same pipe. Don’t use any other outdoor cable other than the recommended
cables. Avoid installing the Axle detectors on curve of rail / too much slope of
rail to the possible extent. Don’t remove the cards from SSDAC units under power ON condition
of system. Remove card if necessary after Switching OFF the power to the unit.

CLASSIFICATION OF ERROR CODES
COUNT RELATED ERRORS Error code 0x33, 0x34 & 0x35: the remote unit’s error code is checked
and diagnosed Error code 0x36 & 0x37: the Tx/Rx coils and SCC card are to be
checked
TROUBLESHOOTING OF SSDAC (CONTD …)
ERROR DUE TO WRONG WHEEL MOVEMENT Error 0x38 & 0x43: output of coil and SCC cards should be checked. Error 0x44, 0x45, 0x46, 0x47 & 0x48: comes due to formation of non-
overlap pulse. Any movement of trolley in the section should be checked.
VITAL RELAY RELATED ERRORS Error 0x15, 0x50, 0x51, 0x52 & 0x53: the VR should be checked for
proper insertion.
TROUBLESHOOTING OF SSDAC (CONTD …)
POWER & COMMUNICATION RELATED ERRORS Error 0x30: link between the two SSDAC units should be checked. Error 0x40, 0x41, 0x42: the communication media between the local and
remote units should be checked for noise or other interfering element. Surge Devices to be checked
Error 0x3F, 0x7F: reset operation for the local and/or remote unit should be proper
Error 0x80: remote unit should be checked and analyzed for error HARDWARE SYNCHRONIZATION RELATED ERRORS
Error 0x60, 0x62: Reset the system. If problem persists, MLB cards should be replaced
TROUBLESHOOTING OF SSDAC (CONTD …)
