Halsey digipak designs

In the creation of my digipak, I wanted to look at any material released by Halsey for a form of inspiration. I want to try and stick to the same ideas of the original artist when creating my own digipak because this will allow me to stick with the genre conventions.

As the digital age progresses, music is getting easier to obtain. Many artists, Halsey included, turn to the internet to give their fans a better chance of receiving their music.

Room 93 is almost exclusively digital. Fans could buy Room 93 through receiving a physical card, like a room key to stick to the theme of the EP. This would lead them to an online link where mp3 tracks could be downloaded. Additionally, it was released on iTunes for those who wanted to download the songs straight onto their phone and is available for streaming through Spotify. As of yet, there’s no physical digipak for Room 93, though we have the album artwork.

The existing ways of release give me an idea of colours, plus the heavy influence of media tells me this should be included on the digipak, and also the advert.

My main image will be here. It will more than likely have an edited effect rather than having a simple look.

The artist’s logo will be around here. This will allow them to remain identifiable and follow the conventions of the band’s past physical releases. The barcode and record label’s

logo will be placed here. This will make my digipak look more professional because most real digipaks include this. Legal (copyright, etc.) information will also be included.

Digipak Plan

Track list will be placed here. This is informative to buyers and is an important aspect of a digipak

It’s becoming more common for social media information to be shown on a digipak. This includes features such as website information, Twitter usernames, Facebook links, etc.

I would either keep this section as one bold colour or use an image of the artist or a link to a theme or projection, like the static.. Ideally it would be the place where the artist thanks all of the people involved in the production in each way.

The area behind the CD is usually quite plain, fitting the same colour conventions of the disc. I will be aiming for the image to be relatively faded to stick with my conventions and to make the CD stand out.

The actual CD will be quite simple – most likely one colour with the artist and album title on it.

Again, this will match the left cover next to the back inside: I will use pictures of the artist to get the star image factor.

This will match the cover inside section: I will use pictures of the artist to get the star image factor.

I’ve used pictures from the test shoot for this draft so it isn’t exact to how the pictures will be, although I may use one of them.
