LinkedIn Learning - to learn even more!

Indiana library staff can receive complementary access to the entire LinkedIn Learning.com (https://www.linkedin.com/) course library, through the Indiana State Library.

LinkedIn Learning.com provides a vast online library of instructional videos covering the latest software, creative, and business skills. Taught by accomplished teachers and recognized industry experts, LinkedIn Learning.com is a high-quality resource for employees looking to develop skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, project management, communication, and a wide range of other topics.

3. INSPIRE DATABASES

There are 82 databases on INSPIRE. Here is an A-Z list of them with descriptions -

https://inspire.in.gov/databases-z. There is also something else handy to know about INSPIRE –

the databases come from basically three different sources – EBSCO, Gale & the Indiana State

Library. EBSCO & Gale make up the majority of the databases and they each look and work a

little differently. Other databases that are independent from the 3 main sources are – Rosetta

Stone (language learning) and Teaching Books (great information for children’s & young adult

books).

We have a recorded webinar on how to use INSPIRE -

https://continuinged.isl.in.gov/introduction-to-inspire-1-tleu/. It was done in 2017 so it doesn’t

have the current updated home page on it (see below). A few things to know about the new

homepage – there are different ways to view the databases – A-Z, by subject and tiled

(highlighted in yellow). So it groups them to make it easier to see what is on INSPIRE (sorry the

pic is so small – I wanted to get the whole page). On the bottom of the pic I’ve highlighted the

word “here” – this is where you can click to get to the previous INSPIRE interface (that will go

with the recorded webinar).

Also, your library’s Regional Coordinator can come to your library and facilitate a face-to-face

INSPIRE training with library staff. Find out who your Regional Coordinator is here: https://continuinged.isl.in.gov/contact/#PDO.

Databases listed on next page.

11. HOW TO PRINT PICTURES FROM FACEBOOK

There’s always many ways to do something. One way would be to bring up the picture on

Facebook that you want to print. Right click on the image (see pic below). And then there are a

few choices. You could “open the image in a new webpage tab”, Save image as” – save it on

your desktop or in a folder, etc., “Copy image” – I might copy the image and put it into Word or

PowerPoint or Publisher – any program you want to use the picture in. I haven’t used the

“Copy image address.”

I did a Google search & found these handy steps:

1 – Scroll through your Facebook photos until you find the photo you want to print, then click

on that photo to open it on its own page.

2 – Right-click on the photo and click Save as.

3 – Save the photo to your computer's Desktop.

4 – Right-click on the saved photo and select Print from the drop-down menu.

Once you follow these steps & you click on the image that you saved to the desktop, it gives you

these choices (see pic below). So you can change paper size, quality of the picture, how you

want them to print on the page:

Facebook Analytics - https://analytics.facebook.com/

Twitter Analytics - https://analytics.twitter.com/about

“I only go into the reports if I need something specific. I keep my own stats every month showing

the increase/decrease in followers/likes from every social media platform. I pop in every once in a

while to look at things, but there never seems to be any rhyme or reason.

I can tell the “housekeeping” type of posts aren’t popular, but we still need to post them. Same

thing with the census posts.

Anyway, I am not even sure what has changed. It still looks the same to me. Additionally, if the

person is talking about the weekly updates that get sent via email, we don’t always get those.

I tend to use the Insights tab if I need any of this info (that’s where I got that picture). I believe all of

that info can be found using the tab and then setting filters.

Facebook has a tendency to change on a whim, too. What is current now, might not be current in

two weeks in terms of analytics. Though, it’s been steady recently.” From a PR expert
