Brevemente: sujeto + have/has + verbo (pasado participio)
Ejemplos:
Afirmativo
He comido una manzana. → I have eaten an apple.
Me ha comprado un coche. → He has bought me a car.
Negativo
sujeto + haven't/ hasn´t + verbo (pasado participio)
No me ha llevado al zoológico. → He hasn´t given me a lift to the zoo.
Ellos no han estudiado para el examen. → They haven´t studied for the test.
Pregunta
Have/has + sujeto + verbo (pasado participio)?
¿Cuantas veces has visto esa película? → How many times have you seen that film?
→ Which has been the best film you have ever seen?
] Present perfect con for y since
"For" y "since" sirven para delimitar el tiempo de la acción del verbo. "For" tiene el significado de durante y "since", desde.
Ejemplos:
'Afirmativo:
He vivido aquí durante 4 años. → I have lived here for four years
He vivido aquí desde 2004. → I have lived here since 2004
Negativo
No he estudiado durante ocho años. → I haven´t studied for eight years
No he estudiado desde 2002. → I haven´t studied since 2002
Present perfect con already, yet y just
"For" y "since" establecen cuando se ha concluido la acción mientras que already, just y yet.
Already: ya Just: acabar de
Yet: todavía no, aun
Ya he hecho mis deberes. →I have already done my homework
Acabo de hacer mis deberes. → I have just done my homework
Todavía no he hecho mis deberes. → I haven't done my homework yet
→ What has been the most interesting book you have ever read?
¿Alguna vez en tu vida has estado en España? → Have you ever been in Spain?
¿Alguna vez en tu vida has tomado Tequila? → Have you ever drunk Tequila?

can could
may
might
will
shall
should
ought to
must
would
Uses (Usos)
Can
"Can" indica habilidad o posibilidad.
Ejemplos: I can speak five languages. (Puedo hablar cinco idiomas.)
We can work late tonight if you need us.
Bill and Tom can't help you. (Bill y Tom no pueden ayudarte.)
The restaurant can be expensive if you drink a lot of wine.
It can be dangerous to drive if you are tired.
Ejemplos: Can I have a glass of water? (¿Puedo tomar un vaso de agua?)
Can you help me? (¿Puedes ayudarme?)
Can they work late tonight? (¿Pueden trabajar hasta tarde esta noche?)
Could
Ejemplos: Joe could speak Spanish when he was young. (Joe podía hablar español cuando era joven.)
I couldn't sleep last night. (No pude dormir anoche.)
It could have been worse. (Podría haber sido peor.)
Could you play an instrument when you were a child?
Ejemplos: You could pass the test if you studied. (Podrías pasar el examen si estudiaras.)
I think it could rain later.
Ejemplos: Could you pass the salt please? (¿Podría pasarme la sal por favor?)
Could you help me? (¿Podrías ayudarme?)
Could I be wrong? (¿Podría estar equivocado?)
Nota: Se usa "could" en frases condicionales.
May
Como "could", se usa "may" para indicar posibilidades en el futuro.
Ejemplos: I would bring an umbrella, it may rain later. (Llevaria un paraguas, puede llover más tarde.)
It may be better to finish this now, rather than wait until tomorrow.
Ejemplos: You may leave if you like. (Puede salir si le gusta.)
You may use your cell phones now. (Podéis usar sus teléfonos ahora.)
Con sí o no preguntas, el uso de "may" es más educado que "can".
Ejemplos: May I have a glass of water? (¿Podría tomar un vaso de agua?)
May I leave now? (¿Podría salir ahora?)
Might
Ejemplos: I would bring an umbrella, it might rain later.
It might be better to finish this now, rather than wait until tomorrow.
Will
Ejemplos: I will help you. (Te ayudaré.)
We will learn English.
Ejemplos: Will they find a cure for cancer? (¿Encontrarán una cura para el cáncer?)
Will you help me move? (¿Me ayudas a mudarme?)
Will he go to Paris by car or train? (¿Va a París en coche o el tren?)
Shall
Ejemplos: Chris shall be happy to see you. (Chris estará feliz de verte.)
I'll take the 3 o'clock train.
Entonces "I'll" en el ejemplo anterior puede significar "I will" o "I shall".
Ejemplos: Shall we meet at 10pm? (¿Quedamos a las 22h?)
Shall we go to the movies or a museum? (¿Vamos al cine o a un museo?)
Should
"Should" indica un obligación o recomendación.
Ejemplos: I should call my parents more often. (Debería llamar a mis padres más a menudo.)
You shouldn't work so hard. (No debería trabajar tan duro.)
They should practice more if they want to win the championship.
Ejemplos: Should we leave a tip? (¿Deberíamos dejar una propina?)
Should I have the steak or the chicken? (¿Debería comer el bistec o el pollo?)
Where should they meet you? (¿Dónde deberían encontrarte?)
Ought to
"Ought to" es un sinónimo de "should", pero nunca se usa "ought to" en frases interrogativas en inglés americano.
Ejemplos: You ought to quit smoking. (Deberías dejar de fumar.)
I ought to call my parents more often. (Debería llamar a mis padres más a menudo.)
They ought to work less. (Deberían trabajar menos.)

You must [have to] brush your teeth two times a day.
We must [have to] leave now or we will be late. (Tenemos que irnos ahora o llegaremos tarde.)
You must not drink and drive. (No puedes beber y conducir.)
When must we meet you? (¿Cuándo debemos quedar? )
Ejemplos: John's not here. He must be sick because he never misses class. (John no esta aquí. Debe estar enfermo porque nunca pierde clases.)
It must be difficult to learn a new language as an adult.
Ejemplos: Must you always be late? (¿Siempre tienes que llegar tarde?)

Would
Ejemplos: I would like to go to New York someday. (Me gustaría ir a Nueva York un día.)
I would like a beer and my wife would like a glass of wine please.
Would you like some coffee? (¿Le gustaría un cafe?)
Would you help me please? (¿Me ayudas por favor?)
When would you like to go to the movies? (¿Cuándo te gustaría ir al cine?)
Nota: Se usa "would" en frases condicionales.
I'm sorry to bother you ...
Si empiezas diciendo "I'm sorry to bother you" (siento mucho molestarle) conseguirás que la
por ejemplo en el restaurante "I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted a baked potato, not fries." (siento
Can you help me with this?
Can you help me with this? My shirt came back from
the laundry missing buttons." (¿Podrías Usted ayudarme? Mis pantalones han vuelto de la
lavandería y faltan algunos botones)
I'm afraid there may be a misunderstanding.
Es una manera educada de decir "Your information is wrong. Please fix it now."
Por ejemplo: "I'm afraid there may be a misunderstanding. I
requested a non-smoking room." (Me temo que ha habido un error. La reserva era para una
habitación de no fumador).
I understand it's not your fault ...
expón tu queja directamente: "I understand it's not your fault, but the airline promised they would
deliver my baggage yesterday."
Excuse me, but I understood that ...
intenta aprovecharse. No digas nunca "Hey! You're trying to cheat me!" ("¡Eh, está intentando
engañarme!") Lo mejor es empezar diciendo lo que sabes: "I understood that the taxi ride to the
airport was only 25 dollars."
Si el problema no parece tener solución, recurre a frases como:"I need to speak with a
manager," (Necesito hablar con el responsable), "This is unacceptable,"(Esto es inaceptable),
"Please fix the situation immediately," (Por favor busque una solución inmediatamente) o "I demand
