Presentation

Use a consistent color scheme and limit the number of colors per slide to four or five

Choose background colors, fonts, and font colors that work well together

As a rule use dark colors for backgrounds and bright colors for text

Incorporate appropriate graphics that support the topic

Use no more than six lines per slide and six words per line for improved readability and immediate impact

Limit each slide to one topic, use transitions and animations appropriately

Create a Presentation Using a Design Template

Design templates have preprogrammed format available – color, background, fonts, bullets

Helps in creating a professional and polished presentation

Can be applied to one or more slides on a presentation while creating or on an existing presentation

Can use more than one design on a template

Presentation Using a Design Template

Be careful to maintain consistency throughout the presentation

Design templates can be previewed in the Slide Design task pane (Format - Slide Design)

Three choices are available on a design template Apply to all slides Apply to selected slides Show large preview

Customize a Design Template and Slide Layout

Design template can be customized by changing the slides layout, and color scheme

Slide Layout: a combination of placeholders for text or objects (graphics) select Format menu – slide layout One-column text, two-column text Text on left, clip art on right

Slide Layout can be found on the Slide Layout task pane

Customize a Design Template

Color scheme: eight colors used customize the background, fonts, hyperlinks

There are nine preset color scheme Color schemes can be customized by editing

the colors (Format menu – slide design – color scheme – edit color)

Customized color schemes can be saved with a new name

On a slide the font size, bullet style, or color of an object can be changed

Create a Presentation from a Blank Presentation

The quickest way to create a presentation is to use a blank slide (“starting from scratch”)

Text will appear in black text on a white background

Allows for customization and formatting

Import Text from Word to Create a Presentation

Can import a Word outline Easiest format because it has styles

or Word documentBased on level styles

To import: in the Open dialog box select All Outlines or All Files in the Files of Type and select the appropriate file
