2 CORE ASSUMPTIONS
DC Action for Children (DCA4C) needs to provide its data in a way that creates awareness & drives utilization.
1. Council Members are reactive and focus on low hanging fruit
2. The biggest way to make a true impact is by mobilizing the people

The results of our ideation sessions provided the framework for our first prototype!
• A two-sided platform that creates awareness among the public on important issues, so that they will act.
• This will encourage Council Members to utilize DCA4C’s data and make more informed decisions.

Step 3 - Council Members and their staff receive real-time data on residents’ actions via the platform…
Step 4 - The outcry encourages the Council Members to utilize DCA4C’s data to make informed decisions on the topic…
At the midterm review, we received valuable feedback.
We reflected, empathized and came up with our primary audience…
… Council Members and their staff.
We refined our prototype with the Council Members and their staff in mind. Now that we had our ultimate audience, we just had to create a product that met their needs while also addressing our problem statement.
We created a platform that aggregates data for action in order to enable Council Members to take action for children.
Introducing… the Legislative Playbook!

“The Legislative Playbook… … is a responsive design website where Council Members can use both DCA4C’s data and the real-time feedback of constituents to make informed policy decisions on issues that affect DC’s most vulnerable residents; children.
