We need to eat a balance and variety of foods from these

groups.

Draw a plate like the one below and create your own healthy meal.

Create an alphabet poster using foods with different initial letters.

Don't forget to send us a photograph.

Vegetable creations

Cut up various vegetables into a variety of shapes.Provide cocktail sticks and let your child create!

Activities like this encourage children to look at vegetables in different ways and can help promote healthier eating habits.

Salty Potato Experiment

• Fill two small bowls with water and mix salt into one of the bowls.

• Label both bowls so you know which one has salty water.

• Cut a potato in half and place half in each bowl with the cut side down.

• Leave for about 30 minutes and watch what happens - the salt water will draw water out of the potato causing it to shrivel.

Just like the potato loses water when put in a salty solution, salty food and drinks make us lose water too and we feel thirsty. That is why we should only eat salty food occasionally.

Cut pictures of healthy foods out of magazines and make a collage.

Or create a healthy food collage with different bits of torn up paper.
