LANDSTUHL THERAPY
CENTER
design proposal
• Provide a sense of community for the children of military families
• Provide an environment for children that can be a safe haven from everyday concerns that can come from being in a military family
• Provide a variety of therapeutic methods for healing • Security for long-term residents
Goals
The Landstuhl Therapy Center is a behavioral health clinic that aims to provide children with a sense of serenity, security, and connection to community. To achieve this, patient security will be integrated into the spatial organization to provide varying levels of privacy from open, shared spaces to individual consultation rooms. Also, the broad range of therapy services will be interconnected by shared community spaces to encourage and strengthen the sense of community. Located in Land-stuhl, Germany, this healing environment connects the patients to nature by incorporating a cool and soothing color scheme with muted tones and nature-inspired materials. Through this design concept, The Land-stuhl Therapy Center will provide each child an internal serenity and a sense of community connectivity as they adapt to life changes.
