    Requried data

    Power to be trancemited

    Input and output of the shaft speed

    Center distance between pully

    Step:1 Calculation of pully diameter

    By using belt speed,assuming number of belt the minimum pully

    diameter is choosen from PSG design data book (page number 7.54)

    Step:2 Calculation of design power in kw

    Design=(Rated(kw) x load correction factor(ks))/(Arc of contact factory x

    small pully factor (kd))

    From PSG Design data book (page number:7.53,7.54 and 7.62) the

    values of ks ,kd is found respective

    Step:3 Selecton of bending:

    The type of belt is selected from PSG data book page number:7.54

    Step:4 Load correcton factor:

    Load ratting at V m/s =(load rating 10 m/s x (v/10))

    V =(d1N1)/60

    Step:5:Determination of belt width

    Width of the belt =(design power is kw/(load rating x no of plies)

    From PSG design data bookn pg.no.7.52 standard width of belt is

    selected

    Step:6: Determination of pully width

    From PSG data book pg no 7.54,7.55 the pully width is selected

    Step:7:Calculation of belt length

    Open belt drive:

    L=2c+(/2)+(D+d)+((D-d)2/4c)
