Introduction

- The results presented here are from the tenth quarterly Staff Engagement Pulse Survey, carried out by Picker on behalf of Derbyshire Community Health Services. We have made a number of changes to the report to make it easier to understand. These changes are described in detail on the next page, as well as DCHS' national FFT scores.

1) Higher scores are better

2) 100% is the maximum score, 0% is the minimum

3) Scores of 75% or more are marked green (45% for response rates)

4) Scores of less than 70% are marked red (40% for response rates)

5) Scores between these two are amber

- 1541 staff completed the survey out of a possible 3804, a response rate of 40.5%

- To try and create a visual report that is easy to comprehend quickly, we group the staff who said that they were "likely" or "extremely likely" together to create a percentage figure (or "rarely"/"never" for the new question on IT difficulties).

- Data is starred/greyed out where fewer than 5 staff responded in that group, in order to protect staff confidentiality.

- Staff Engagement is grouped into 3 key areas in the report:- Advocacy - speak highly of DCHS- Involvement - how involved you feel in what happens in your team / department / DCHS- Motivation - how much you enjoy your job and being part of the organisation

Changes to the Report

- Each division/directorate is now shown first broken down by department, then broken down by team.

- Since the May 2014 report the scoring system has changed from a mean scoring system to a percentage recommending system (see previous page for more details of the new scoring system).

- The colours for scores (Red, Amber, Green) are now based on absolute figures (red - less than 70%, green - 75% or more, amber - between these figures). Previously they were based on relative comparisons with the trust average.

- Scores are now rounded to the nearest whole percent e.g. 74.6% becomes 75%. The colours will be based on this rounded figure (74.6% will be rounded to 75% and so will be green). Previously the displayed figures were rounded, but the colours were based on the exact figure.

- Headings now include the number of staff who completed the survey and from how many asked (rather than just thepercentage response rate figure). This is to help clarify what is being reported on.

National Friends and Family Test Scores

- 91% of staff would recommend DCHS to friends and family if they needed care or treatment.

- 73% of staff would recommend DCHS to friends and family as a place to work.
