Tchaikovsky SSyymmpphhoonnyy NNoo 66 ""PPaatthhééttiiqquuee""

There is nothing more Finnish than Sibelius’s FFiinnllaannddiiaa.Originally presented in Helsinki in protest against thedrastic suppression of political freedom by Finland’sRussian masters, Finlandia is a soaring and exhilaratingscore which becomes increasingly triumphant in its mood.

Stravinsky’s PPeettrruusshhkkaa is one of his most brilliantachievements that bursts with the joys and energy ofyouth. This vibrant and colourful ballet score tells thestory of three puppets who magically come to life and experience the full range of human emotions.

Tchaikovsky’swistful and heartbreaking SSiixxtthh SSyymmpphhoonnyywas premiered nine days before the composer’s death. Ittakes you on a journey that starts with love and passion andconcludes with sorrow and melancholy.
