KILLED IN ACTION

A Jilliby Lad

Mr. and Mrs. George Denton, of Sixth Street, Adamstown, received a message that their youngest son, Corporal Arthur Denton was killed in action on May 5th . corporal Denton was 21 years of age, and left Syd-ney two years ago for the front. Prior to enlisting, he was serving his time with Mr. Taylor, of Hamilton, builder and contractor. Mr. and Mrs. Denton have two other sons at the front. Their second son, Private John Denton, enlisted at the outbreak of the war with the King’s Own Scottish Rifles in England. He has been three times wounded, on the last occasion, in July last, and in a recent letter received from him he was in a convalescent camp in Ireland, and was about to be sent back to his depot in England. The eldest son, Corporal Wilfred Denton, was the seventh man in New South Wales to enlist in the Expeditionary Forces, and the first man from Adamstown to join the colors. He left with the 1st Battalion, but was invalided back from Egypt. On his recovery he was accepted, and left with the ---Battalion. The brothers are all rifle-men. Their father, Mr. George Denton, is in the railway service. Deceased soldier lad and his brother Jack were born at Jilliby. Another brother George Denton, is at present night officer at Ourimbah .
