Independence Chairperson(s): Kimberly Brooks-Hall and Antoya Shuler Date of Meeting: No formal meeting was held in the month of March; all correspondence related
to support of the Miss Delta Teen Pageant and the Spring Break College Tour (in collaboration with GEMS) was sent via email, phone calls and/or text.

- April: Financial Planning & Management – Cicely, Tashia and Nicole to coordinate: o Due to Easter, will now plan to meet on April 29 o Introduce Mad City Money on-site at Eugene Butler YMLA
- May: EOY Celebration, First Tee Golf (1157 Golfair Blvd) from 1-4pm o Co-Chairs agreed that the skills learned in this exercise will be beneficial to
participants for current and future needs: discipline, networking, etc. Cost is $5/participant + food/snacks
o Will acknowledge all participants at event and distribute senior gifts o Kim BH to submit off-site request forms for approval
Actions Taken: Co-Chairs + 2nd VP will review PYC applications for National Convention, due March 30th. Submit off-site paperwork for EOY activity, to be approved by Soror President Tutt & RD. Actions to be taken by the Chapter: Submit Presidential Youth Conference applications to the National Office on behalf of EMBODI. The following members were in attendance:
We did not have a meeting due to members being out of town for leisure (spring break) and business. Business Items Discussed:
a. Although we did not have a formal meeting, this month the committee did the following:
i. Worked with Social Action Committee to submit a grant request to DREF in the category of
civic engagement. The initiative is called Each 1 + Teach 1 = 2 Vote. If funded, it will focus
on working with students and parents and educating them on the importance of voting and
civic engagement in Jacksonville.
ii. Worked with Camp Sunshine to submit a grant to Baptist Health for program funding.
II. New business
a. One of our committee members, Shenaye Lyons, is moving to California for a new career
opportunity. She will be missed.

• BSA/GEMS survey was discussed. The survey has been completed and uploaded to Survey Monkey.
• After robust discussion of the Meet/Date Survey regarding the change from two questions to more without committee consent, the survey was tabled.
• The Non-Financial Sorors Survey was discussed.

• Soror Joni Ellis-Hughes will complete review of the rosters for BSA/GEMS at which point the
rosters will be uploaded for dissemination to participants.

Cluster – March 31st thru April 2nd; on the call attending from our committee: Pat Godboldt, Stacey Cox,
Mary McKinney, Felicia Bridgewater, and Bonita Drayton. The April 1st chapter meeting is not cancelled.
Budget – Submitted with a $1000 line item towards the prominent memorial for our founder. This ties in
to the letter below to Evergreen.
Winona Cargile Alexander – Letter to Evergreen – Again thanks to Bea Conner and Verdell Benefield
for their assistance in preparing the draft letter to Evergreen Cemetery dtd 2-28-17. Approval has been received from the 1st and 2nd VP and Legal. We still await direction from the president, Soror Tutt.
Election – Our own committee member Soror Monica Hardy is on the ballot as Chaplain for the next
sororal year. Please support her. She expressed that she continues to be prayerful.
