The Delphi Community School Corporation offers students in grades 9-12 an enriched curriculum including math, social studies, science, English, communications, and unified arts offerings of Technical Education, FACS, art, choir, band and foreign language.
The DCSC offers a comprehensive high school program, which includes advanced academic offerings, vocational opportunities, and articulation agreements with post high school institutions.

Alternative academies exist for those pre-college and middle and high school students requiring an educational environment different from the traditional school environment.
DescriptionandLocationofCurriculum
A comprehensive and complete set of curricula resides at both the central office and each media center. In addition, each teacher has a complete set of grade level and/or department curricula. Each set of curricula contains a detailed account of student outcomes related to units of study and state materials. These materials are reviewed and rewritten one year prior to book adoption.

GiftedandTalentedProgramsDelphi Community School’s high ability program offers a K-12 continuum of services to develop talent and to extend, and enrich student learning. Through a rigorous and differentiated academic curriculum, individual students reach their highest level of potential and become lifelong learners. Students are identified for high ability programming using a multifaceted identification including standardized intelligence tests, standardized achievement tests, and teacher rating scales. Identified students participate in programs such as the elementary pullout enrichment program, elementary self-contained classes for grades 2-5, Accelerated English and Accelerated Mathematics for grades 6-8, and Honors classes in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and History in grades 9-12.
EnglishLanguageLearners(ELLs)The EL Program at Delphi Community High School is funded primarily by three grants – Migrant, Non-English Speaking Program and Title III. One full time and one part time EL paraprofessionals provide tutoring in homework and assist the classroom teachers in providing English proficiency skills. Both paraprofessionals have college degrees. Our instructional assistants also provide translating and interpretative help for the certified staff as well as being an integral link to our EL students’ parents.
The library media center has a section of fiction available in Spanish to encourage students to read in their native language. Additionally, professional materials such as Classroom Instruction that Works with English Language Learners and Teaching English Language Learners Across the Content Areas are housed in the professional section of the LMC to provide current resources for classroom teachers in using research based strategies to help instruct our EL students. Communication is paramount to the success of this program. The staff in all three buildings meets throughout the school year to track the progress of all students as they transition through each building. The EL Staff under the direction of an EL Director ensures that placement and LAS LINKS testing occurs and shares the results of this English proficiency testing with all staff. An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is prepared for each student in the program and includes the appropriate proficiency level of the student. The ILP is placed in the student’s permanent record and is copied and given to each of the students’ teachers to assure that appropriate modifications and accommodations are given on assignments and assessments.

Conclusions
Interventions, weekly professional development for staff, and consistently monitoring data have been implemented to increase the success of our students. The Delphi Community School Corporation is utilizing the Delphi Community School Corporation RISE evaluation system to give feedback to teachers on instruction and to foster an atmosphere of continual instructional growth. TheDelphiCommunitySchoolCorporationhascurriculummapsK-12whicharealignedwiththestatestandards.Atthehighschoollevel,thecurriculummapsareupdatedyearly.Eachyear,anewcomponentisaddedtothecurriculummapstore-enforceourgoalsandtocontinuallydevelopourinstructiontoensurewearemeetingourstudentsneeds.Thecurriculummapshavealsobecomeafocalpointofverticalalignmentandcollaborationamongteachers.Finally,thepurposeofthecurriculummapsistobeafluiddocumentthatcontinuallychangestomeetthestudentsneeds. During the 2020-2021 school year, we will continual our push to set high expectations for our students. The staff will continue to increase problem solving, critical thinking skills and quality feedback that will push the students to think rather than just giving an answer. Additionally, we will continue to focus our professional development on creating assessments, which contain higher level of depth of knowledge and give accurate feedback of our students’ skills. With these strategies, we are striving to create students who will be successful adults who value learning. Another key component of our educational goal is our students. We realize that the more connected students are to school, the more successful they will be. At DCHS, we offer a wide variety of clubs, extra-curricular activities and athletics for our students. We will be increasing our methods of engaging students in those activities this school year. Additionally, we need to create a culture where students cannot “opt-out” of their education. We at DCHS ban all Opting out = dropping out… dropping out of your future, your success and your dreams.
ParentalParticipationFor students to be successful, a strong partnership between student, staff and parents is paramount. At DCHS we strive for open communication and engage the parents in the following:
• Individualized schedule with the student and the parents yearly • Athletic meetings with parents and students • Freshman Orientation – Parents meet with administration • Meet the Teacher Night- Parents meet with individual teachers • Parent Teacher Conferences- Parents meet with individual teachers • Individual Teacher/Parent Conferences- Progress and/or concerns • Skyward- Communication with school, teachers, and clubs

TechnologyasaLearningToolStudents will use various hardware and software tools. All students will have a laptop computer with access to the internet, remediation programs, and textbook software. Chromebooks will be the primary hardware focus, while applications such as G Suite for Education apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, etc.) and Web 2.0 tools such as podcasts and digital storytelling using Aviary and Audacity, digital posters using Canva, slideshows and presentations using Google Slides and Adobe Spark, and much more. Teachers use a class page tool through a program called Google Classroom. Google Classroom is a web-based tool that allows teachers to add announcements, post homework assignments, and add resources for the classes. Students who have Internet access can utilize their teacher’s Classrooms whenever it is needed. This has been especially helpful for students who have missed school. Delphi Community School Corporation also has a search program called Nettrekker which allows students to surf the Internet safely whenever they need to do research. Finally, Skyward is our student management program. Teachers, parents and students may monitor their grades. Our Library/Media Center opens for the day at 7:45 a.m. Computers and assistance are available at that time. Our elementary school (grades 1-5) teaches keyboarding skills through a specials class. Our current 9th graders take a computer science class where they learn digital citizenship and coding skills. We currently have a high school class which is taught by a Career and Tech. Ed. teacher that currently has all freshman students. This program allows the students to learn multiple software programs. Mr. Kline is currently our technology implementation specialist. Mr. Kline has monthly technology trainings in our Wednesday professional development. Mr. Kline is available to assist and train teachers with technology during the school day. Mr. Kline has moved our technology component of instruction forward over the last couple years. All middle school classrooms have one-on-one classroom sets of Chromebooks and Smartboards. Training for the teachers and students has been ongoing. Teachers are also offered courses over new software, increased internet usage and Smartboard technology during the summer.

FutureInitiatives
Delphi Community High school will be embarking on improving classroom instruction by implementing purposeful planning, effective instruction, teacher leadership, core professionalism, and curricular mapping. It is the vision of the faculty to use data to drive instruction while developing updated curricular maps with fidelity. The faculty will continue to develop plans for differentiated instruction, student engagement, critical thinking/problem solving and modification/enrichment for students in need. DCHS will also continue its school wide writing across the curriculum that has demonstrated growth in our students’ writing ability and confidence. One area of development for this school year is the implementation of a high school RTI program. While RTI is being accomplished through the student services area, we do not have a “formal RTI” program, which successfully tracks data.
Delphi Community School Corporation will provide an alternative school setting and credit recovery to increase the HS graduation rates. This program is designed to give students a digital learning environment that is individual base along with additional counseling, job opportunities, and life coaching.
