Degrees Of Punishment In Hell

There will be degrees of punishment in hell for every sinner, not based on categories of sin, not based on amounts of sin, but based on the level of truth they rejected.

DEGREES OF PUNISHMENT IN HELL

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Matt 7:21

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. Rev 21:8

SALVATION is a rescue

a fiery hell, the lake of fire that is ETERNAL

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT HELL?

Gehenna The name refers to an area outside of the city of Jerusalem where idolatry and horrendous sin, including child sacrifice, were practiced. Gehenna was a place so despised and cursed by God’s people that they turned it into the city dump where feces, refuse, and the dead bodies of criminals were stacked.

1. Annihilationism: When unbelievers die, they just do not exist anymore.

Major Objections To The Doctrine Of Hell

2. Universalism: All unbelievers are in the end will be saved. A loving God would not send billions of people to a horrible hell. 3. Inclusivism: Unbelievers who never heard the gospel will be saved because they are not responsible for their situation.

Will Everyone Who Does Not Know Jesus Go To Hell? Yes!

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John14:6

There is no way to be saved from the punishment of sin through anyone else. For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved.” Acts 4:12

I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be guilty before the court and whoever says to his brother, you good for nothing, shall be guilty before the Supreme Court and whoever says, You fool, shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.” Matt 5:22

Our Lord’s first New Testament sermon was a sermon on hell. Jesus was a hell-fire preacher.

If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you, it’s better for you to lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off, throw it from you. Better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.” Matt 5:29-30

Then the King will say to those on His left, “Depart from me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.”…These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Matt 25:41, 46 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:43 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15

Hell Is A Place Of Eternal Punishment and Exclusion

People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pains and sores. They did not repent of their deeds. Rev 16:10-11

WHY DOES HELL HAVE TO BE FOREVER? because sinners

never stop sinning

The sinner could not be happy in heaven and he cannot be happy in hell. Sin is a complete dead end.

…drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger. And he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. They have no rest day and night. Rev 14:10-11

Hell Is Where Wicked People Suffer The Wrath Of God

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:36

Our love for God will increase when we see how much God had spared us from the torment of hell!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 …Jesus rescues us from the wrath to come. 1 Thess 1:10
