•ThereareoveronehundredofthesewellsinoperationinSaskatchewan,includingatleast8injectionwellswithin50kmoftheproposedprojectsite(e.g.Cory,Vanscoy,Saskatoon,andPatienceLake)
•Potentialimpactstotheenvironmentwillbeminimal(ifany)duetodesigninstallation,operationandmaintenancestandardsandregulations
Disposal Horizon•WastewaterwillbeinjectedintotheSourisRiverFormation,approximately740mbelowgroundleveland450mbelowtheDalmenyAquifer
•TheSourisRiverFormationis170mthick,withhighpermeabilityandporositymakingitidealforthedisposalofthewastewater
•TheporewaterintheSourisFormationishighlymineralized(10xmoresalinethanoceanwater)
•Theinjectionwellsaredesignedbasedonthecharacteristicsofthewastewaterandthewaterwithinthedisposalhorizon
•ApermitforaWasteWaterDisposalWellhasbeenissuedbytheregulator•FortuneMineralsispreparingaDeepWellManagementPlanoutliningoperational,maintenance,spillresponse,andtrainingprocedures

injection WellsFortuneMineralswillusethebestavailabletechnology,whichincludesanumberofbarrierstopreventwastewaterfrominfiltratingfreshwateraquifers:•Multiplecasings;•Pressuretestedseals;•Injectiontubinginhibitor;•Leakmonitoring;•Geologicseal;and•Cathodicprotection.
Continuousmonitoring,annualtestingandmaintenancewillbeconducted.
