Cool-core clusters at high-z
CCs represent the bulk (50-70%) of the local cluster population (e.g. Hudson et al. 2010)
- Central surface brightness excess
- Central cooling time << tHUBBLE
- Temperature drop: Tc ~ 1/3 Ttot
- Strong Fe peak- Low entropy (< 30 kev cm2)
Up to z~1.4: moderate evolution (Santos et al. 2008, 2010) Most high-z clusters are mild
CCs
- SB concentration cSB: SB(r<40 kpc) / SB(r<400 kpc)
- cluster samples: RDCS, WARPS, 400SD Best target: WARPJ1415, z=1 (90 ksec Chandra ACIS-I)

Summary I
• WARPJ1415 is a “classical” cool-core cluster at z=1
With the deepest Chandra data of a high-z cluster (370 ksec) we measure: - temperature drop similar to the ones in local cc clusters
- high Fe peak: timescale for the build-up of Fe peak [2.4-3.5] Gyr
Feedback in action - radio source in the center + OII emission in the BCG:
• The X-ray properties of the cool-core in WARPJ1415 are
very similar to the ones of low-z cool-cores
• Ideal high-z cluster to study different components of
the cool-core phenomenon (optical, radio)
