Dear Friends, Christmas celebrations are fast approaching. These last days of Advent move us closer to the Bethlehem event which the late Advent Scriptures foretell. This Monday, December 22, at 9:00am the Church building will be prepared for Christmas. Your help is needed. Can you help us move, haul, lift, set up all manner of items. If so, please come. We will work until we finish. Also, Monday evening, December 22 is the final Monday Nights of Advent Confession offering, 6:00-7:00pm in Church. I hope you will take advantage of this offering. If you had the occasion to attend Advent Evening Prayer on December 8th in Church, you were blessed to share in music and readings for the Advent season. The music was exquisite and I thank the Choir members, Choir Director Karen Ullo, Accompanists Julie Cherry, Kris Murphy and Regina Cates for their fine work. I’m hoping this will be a yearly Advent offering. Come and worship at Christmas, with the Vigils at 4:00pm and 7:00pm, Midnight Mass, and Masses on Christmas morning at 8:00 and 10:00am. Please encourage family and friends to come and worship too. Bring your children and your grandchildren. Our next Financial Peace University is coming in January. Watch for the date. A blessed conclusion to the Advent season to you and yours. Love,

VOCATION From the angel Gabriel, Mary heard God's plan for her life and she said, "Yes!"and so the Saviour came into the world. Pray to know God's Will for your life so as to help bring Jesus to our world. If you think God is calling you to a Church vocation, call or email Father Matt Dupré at 225.336.8778, [email protected], or visit, www.diobr.org/vocations.

The Five Giving Principles As part of our parish’s Total Stewardship program, we look forward to our emphasis on the Stewardship of Finance in weeks to come. Five established elements of spiritual

giving—Five Giving Principles—guide our study, and will help us express our generosity and our prayerful participation in the work of ministry and service. Those five principles include the following: Giving is planned. Giving is proportionate. Giving is sacrificial. Giving is a free expression, and giving is an act of prayer. Prayerfully, we serve with gener-ous hearts

ST JEAN VIANNEY CAPITAL CAMPAIGN “Our Time to Pray, Our Time to Give”

A MATCHING GIFT There are parishioners who work for businesses which will sometimes MATCH a charitable donation to a Church or School. Is your employer one of those people? If so, your gift to the Capital Campaign could be matched. Sometimes, the employer will match a gift to a SCHOOL but not a CHURCH. Regardless of the case, we can help you find out if your employer will match your gift. Talk to Fr. Tom or Debbie Curole at the parish office, 753.7950 so we can help you help us.

ADORATION “NOT JUST ANOTHER MEETING”

All are invited on Tuesdays to continue their worship and love of God at adoration. It is a visit, not a meeting. A visit of ‘love to love’. Bring whatever is in your heart and soul and leave it at the feet of the Lord for HE will be at yours. “Adoration for the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth”. -Mother Theresa Join us every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm for Eucharistic Adoration. Taking special time with our Lord is a great way to grow closer to Him.
