DECEMBER 2016 Thanks to our Committee This is the last month with our 2016 committee. Thank you so much for those who have done so much to make the Club run so well but will not be serving on the Committee - that's a huge thank you to June and Andy, and to Robin. Another huge thank you to all of us who have volunteered for another year - that's Jane who does magical things with the finances, Peter who keeps track of our members, and Jo (and Chris) who keep a look out for the Harrogate members, and Rachel, Webmaster and ALO; and Peter who did the auditing - it's just been so easy and fun with you all! The Autumn 2016 Season At The West Yorkshire Playhouse A new season of plays, ballet and musicals starts soon. I have given a very brief description of each one. A fuller account is available at the playhouse web site. This season there is a Bronte theme as Charlotte was born 200 years ago. Please email me at or ring me on if you wish to come to any of the plays. The price quoted is the full price for the best seats. I do get 20% discount as a patron and Clare also gets a 20% discount as a WYP member. In both cases this is for a maximum of 6 tickets per production and sometimes not for a touring production. So early booking will help get a discount for the popular shows. There are also cheaper seats. For instance a £30 top ticket production will have cheaper tickets at £15. Knowing which days we are going you could get your own cheaper seats and meet up beforehand for food and drinks. Please contact me if you do this to confirm dates and who is going so you can meet up. We are also charging 50p a ticket to cover the cost of the memberships where appropriate. .We usually meet in the restaurant at the playhouse beforehand. I have generally chosen a Thursday this season due to other commitments on a Tuesday. Strictly Ballroom Thurs 12 Jan £45 The UK premiere of the hit musical from Baz Luhrmann’s film. This is the adult Christmas show Classical Platform returns for it's Autumn Season on the last Wednesday of the month (Nov 30th) in the Shire Oak Room at HEART, Headingley's arts centre on Bennett Road. Relax with a glass of wine or cup of tea in a friendly atmosphere, while listening to a wide variety of classical music performed by students, talented enthusiasts, and local professionals. Doors open at 7.15 and tickets are just £6 on the door. Find more details each month at Classical Platform on Facebook or from Jo

Join Alan for a fun evening, I dance several evenings, most weeks, lessons & freestyle events. Ring me before to arrange a meet up I will show you around but you are ok on your own. There is tuition included, a “beginners” class for everyone & an “intermediate” class for people who have mastered some of the basics, with an hour plus of “freestyle” around this to try out what you have learnt. There are “taxi dancers” to help get you on your feet & review the basics. Partners are rotated during the classes, so you get to meet a mix of friendly fun people, although some do take it quite seriously! The room gets hot, a great way to burn calories & more fun than the gym! Basic classes are repeated on an on-going basis, so you can dip in & out of sessions, gradually picking up the moves, which can get more challenging. Ask at the desk about special offers on the admission price, check online at groupon. Dance workshops, weekenders & holidays are also available, suitable for all levels. Dancing friends seem to just keep popping-up!
