AAA Word From the Pastor If you wish to have a loved one remembered in the Christmas Masses by enrolling them in the Christmas Flower Fund, please return the Christmas Flower Fund envelope by next weekend. The money collect for this fund helps to defray the cost of the Christmas floral decorations includ-ing the poinsettia plants and Christmas trees. Monday, December 16, all parishioners are invited to attend the PASTA DINNER and CHRISTMAS SING ALONG at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. If you are planning on attending the dinner and HAVE NOT YET RESPONDED, please call the Rectory Office (516-921-2334), this coming Monday morn-ing, December 16. The dinner is offered to you by the seventh and eighth level in HNJ's Religious Education Program. The meal will be prepared, cooked and supervised by their catechists, Deacon Chris Sisinni and Lori Krotz. Thank you to all who participated in 2019 the Giving Tree Project. Many thanks to those who re-turned the gifts last. If you forgot, please bring the gift by Monday morning, December so they can be delivered later on that day. Thank you to all who responded 2019 The Religious Retirement Collection. The funds provide fi-nancial assistance for the challenges that the aging religious face because of the rising cost of healthcare. This collection helps to fund daily essentials like prescription medications and nursing care. There are over 30,000 other senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests out-side the Diocese of Rockville Centre will benefit from the Retirement Fund for Religious. Most ministered in Catholic schools, hospitals, parishes, and social service agencies. Today, hundreds of religious communities lack adequate savings for retirement and eldercare. Your gift to the Retire-ment Fund for Religious offers vital support for necessities, such as medications and nursing care. Proponents of doctor assisted suicide are pushing their agenda in states across the country, and New York State is in their sights. They seek to make it legal for terminally ill patients to re-ceive life-ending drugs. These policies are dangerous for patients, caregivers, and vulnerable pop-ulations such as the elderly and persons who are disabled. SUICIDE IS NOT MEDICAL CARE. Please tell your Senate and Assembly representatives that you oppose this dangerous and deadly practice. Giving Tree On November 30

th, we will be setting up our Annual Advent Giving Tree in the narthex of the church. Your wonderful

generosity in the past has been greatly appreciated. Everyone is invited to participate in this heartwarming Holy Name

of Jesus family Advent project.

Again this year we will be providing gifts to the “INN” of Long Island. This includes over 100 children and adults.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Please no more than three items, each under $25.00 or up to $50.00.

2. Take a name tag from the tree. If children take a tag, please sign for it.

3. Sign the sign-up sheet and supply all necessary information. Please be accurate about this.

IF YOU DO TAKE A TAG FROM THE TREE — PLEASE SIGN IT OUT ON THE PROVIDED SHEETS SO

THAT WE HAVE A RECORD TO CHECK. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

4. All gifts must be new.

5. Place the cut top portion of the tag with the name and # taped securely to the gift.

6. All gifts must be returned by DECEMBER 15th. It is very important that we receive them by then. We must sort

and package them for pickup on December 17th.

IF THERE ARE NO TAGS LEFT ON THE TREE AND YOU STILL WISH TO HELP, WE WOULD

APPRECIATE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING GIFTS: Blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and gift cards to Target/Kohl’s.

Place the gift cards in a gift box to ensure safety. You may also return gift cards to the parish office.

Thanks so much—- The Giving Tree Committee

FOCUS: As we prepare to celebrate the mystery of

God’s love for us, a love so great that Christ comes to

be part of our lives and our world, we recall that

sometimes we fail to respond to that love, and so we

sin. In the first reading, a prophet welcomes the changes God’s coming will bring for a weary people. In the second reading, we are called to serve the Lord as we look forward to his coming. In the Gospel, John the Baptist

seeks to know if Jesus is the one who is to come, and

Jesus responds by confirming that John is the precursor preparing the way of the Lord. Published by Franciscan Media

The Joseph Mario Reali Knights of Columbus Council invites all families on the weekend of De-cember 28/29 for the Feast of the Holy Family, to

do a Consecration to the Holy Family. At all Masses, we will recite a prayer to consecrate ourselves under the protection of the Holy Family.

Brochures are available at the entrances of the

church for preparation to make this consecration. Our hope is that this consecration will make our

families stronger and rejuvenate our parish.

Thank you and may Our Holy Family bless you.
