Xavier que siendo niño,

jugaba canicas cuando

alguien le preguntó que

haría si supiera que ese día

moriría. Tranquilamente el

Santo contestó: ¨Seguiría

jugando canicas¨. ¡Eso es

tener la conciencia

tranquila y estar preparado! ¿Cómo reaccionaríamos

nosotros si nos dijeran que hoy vamos a morir? Quizá

suplicaríamos por más tiempo de vida alegando que aún

no hemos hecho lo que queríamos hacer, o que

quisiéramos la oportunidad de pedir perdón por

nuestros errores o expresar nuestro amor a quienes

tuvimos cerca y nunca nos dimos el tiempo para

decírselo ni para estar con ellos. A lo mejor, quisiéramos

destruir evidencias de nuestra doble vida o deshacernos

de nuestros esqueletos que tenemos en nuestro closet.

Nosotros no podemos predecir hecatombes o

accidentes. Incluso hemos visto como atletas con muy

buena salud mueren súbitamente en la cancha. Si algo

tenemos por seguro al nacer, es la certeza de que hemos

de morir. La muerte está tan segura de su victoria que

nos da toda una vida de ventaja.

Para quienes no tienen fe, la idea de morir les

horroriza, pero para quienes creemos en Cristo, sabemos

que la muerte es sólo un medio para pasar a la verdadera

Vida Eterna. La muerte ha sido derrotada por Cristo y ya

no tiene mas dominio sobre nosotros. Hay que vivir cada

día no como un día menos de nuestra existencia, sino

como un regalo que Dios nos da cada mañana. El ayer ya

no existe, el mañana aún no llega. Lo único que tenemos

es el hoy como un regalo que Dios nos da; por eso le

llamamos ¨Presente¨.

Cada día es como una hoja en blanco. La

podemos usar para hacer garabatos, escribir insultos e

incluso para limpiar con ella nuestros zapatos y luego

tirarla a la basura. O, por el contrario, podemos escribir

con mucho cuidado una bella canción, un poema, una

carta de amor o incluso hacer un bello dibujo y hacer de

esa hoja una obra de arte. Cada mañana, Dios nos regala

una hoja. Dependerá de nosotros qué le presentaremos

cuando nos llame: un cesto de basura lleno de hojas

desperdiciadas, o un bello álbum lleno de obras de arte.

Dios nos da la hoja. Nosotros tenemos el lápiz Depende

de nosotros que hacemos de nuestras vidas.

accident may occur, nor at

what instant there may be a

mishap. Otherwise, we

would take the necessary

precautions to avoid it. Being prepared means not just knowing what is

going to happen, but having a plan of action to react

appropriately when it does occur. This means having

reserves of water, food, a battery powered radio, a

flashlight, a first aid kit, cash and a family plan for where

to meet in case of being separated when the catastrophe

occurs. How terrible it is to live every day with the fear

that a disaster could happen today! Being prepared

should not mean living in fear, but being able to live fully

because we are ready to confront whatever comes. What would happen if I was told that I should die

today? I would probably go find a priest to confess. I

would try to reconcile myself and apologize to all those

whom I have offended. I would do penance and spend

the day on my knees, asking God to have mercy on me

so that I may not end up in hell. It is said that St. Francis Xavier was asked the

same question while playing marbles: What would you do if you were told that you were going to die today? To

which the Saint replied calmly, I would continue playing marbles. That is what being prepared should be like! It is

to live in such a way that is worry free, not falling victim

to panic, nor having any fear. It is living every day as if it

were the last. Not living with anxiety, but correctly. The only assurance we have at birth is the

certainty that we will die, and this can happen at any

given time. It may be today, or in many years. Consider

that today is a gain. The past is gone and thus no longer

exists. We have only memories and a few pictures to

remind us that we were younger then and less ugly than

now. Tomorrow has not yet come, and therefore, does

not exist either. All we have is today, which is a gift from

God, and that is why it is called the “Present,” i.e., “gift.”

A gift that He offers us every day to live each day to the

fullest. Why waste it in anger? Live fully in love. Most

likely tomorrow, God will give us another present.

ADVENT CICLE A

The word is Cycle is defined as a period of time or certain number of years, which, when finished, are recounted again. The Church has three liturgical cycles: A, B and C, one year each. They aim to have an overview of the Scriptures. Which means that if you attend Mass every Sunday for three years, you will know the entire content of the Bible. Each Liturgical Cycle begins on the First Sunday of Advent. The word Advent derives from the Latin word meaning coming. The Lord is coming. We may reflect that every year at this time we celebrate his coming . During Advent we recall the history of God's people and reflect on how the prophecies and promises of the Old Testament were fulfilled. This gives us a background for the present. Today we can reflect on the past track record of God and so begin to understand what it means to us now for the sake of what is to come, in our own future and that of our world. The Advent Wreath. The wreath's symbolism of the advent (coming) of Light into the world is clear. The gradual lighting of the four candles, one on each Sunday of the Advent season, combined with the liturgical colors of the candles (purple is the penitential color used during Advent and Lent; rose is a liturgical color used only on Gaudete Sunday in Advent and Laetare Sunday in Lent) help to symbolize not only our expectation and hope in Our Savior's first coming into the world, but also in his Second Coming as Judge at the end of the world. The wreath itself is also symbolic. The circle of evergreen in which the candles are placed represents everlasting life. The seedpods, nuts and cones used to decorate the wreath are symbolic of resurrection, and fruits represent the nourishing fruitfulness of the Christian life. On the first Sunday of Advent, you may sprinkle the wreath with holy water and bless it before the first purple candle is lit. The appropriate Advent collect can be said as the candle[s] are lit each day of the week, followed by the blessing before meals, if you use the wreath at mealtime. The second Sunday two purple candles are lit; the third Sunday, two purple and one rose; and all candles are lit on the fourth Sunday. On Christmas Day, all the greens and decorations are replaced with fresh ones, and four new white candles, symbolizing Christ, replace the colored ones and are burned throughout the Christmas season. The Advent season is a good time to pray the Angelus at family meals.

ADVIENTO

CICLO A La palabra Ciclo es definida como periodo de tiempo o cierto número de años, que, acabados, se vuelven a contar de nuevo. La Iglesia cuenta con tres ciclos litúrgicos: A, B y C, de un año de duración cada uno. Tienen como finalidad el tener un panorama general de las Sagradas Escrituras. Lo que significa que si asistes a Misa cada Domingo durante tres años, habrás conocido todo el contenido de la Biblia. Cada Ciclo Litúrgico comienza en el Primer

Domingo de Adviento. El Adviento es el comienzo del Año Litúrgico, empieza el domingo más próximo al 30 de noviembre y termina el 24 de diciembre. Son los cuatro domingos anteriores a la Navidad y forma una unidad con la Navidad y la Epifanía. El término "Adviento" viene del latín adventus, que significa venida, llegada. El color usado en la liturgia de la Iglesia durante este tiempo es el morado. Con el Adviento comienza un nuevo año litúrgico en la Iglesia, El sentido del Adviento es avivar en los creyentes la espera del Señor. La Corona de Adviento. Tiene su origen en una tradición pagana europea que consistía en prender velas durante el invierno para representar al fuego del dios sol, para que regresara con su luz y calor durante el invierno. Los primeros misioneros aprovecharon esta tradición para evangelizar a las personas. Partían de sus costumbres para enseñarles la fe católica. La corona está formada por una gran variedad de símbolos: La forma circular El círculo no tiene principio ni fin. Es señal del amor de Dios que es eterno, sin principio y sin fin, y también de nuestro amor a Dios y al prójimo que nunca debe de terminar. Las ramas verdes Verde es el color de esperanza y vida, y Dios quiere que esperemos su gracia, el perdón de los pecados y la gloria eterna al final de nuestras vidas. El anhelo más importante en nuestras vidas debe ser llegar a una unión más estrecha con Dios, nuestro Padre. Las cuatro velas Nos hace pensar en la obscuridad provocada por el pecado que ciega al hombre y lo aleja de Dios. Después de la primera caída del hombre, Dios fue dando poco a poco una esperanza de salvación que iluminó todo el universo como las velas la corona. Así como las tinieblas se disipan con cada vela que encendemos, los siglos se fueron iluminando con la cada vez más cercana llegada de Cristo a nuestro mundo. Son cuatro velas las que se ponen en la corona y se prenden de una en una, durante los cuatro domingos de adviento al hacer la oración en familia. Las manzanas rojas que adornan la corona representan los frutos del jardín del Edén con Adán y Eva que trajeron el pecado al mundo pero recibieron también la promesa del Salvador Universal.

EL VERDADERO SANTA CLAUS.-

El Viernes 6 de Diciembre, la Iglesia conmemora al verdadero Santa Claus, San Nicolás, obispo de Myra, que es un verdadero ejemplo de Caridad, perdón y amor para todos, incluso a sus enemigos. Tendremos la Misa en su honor a las 6 de la tarde y terminaremos con la Bendición con el Santísimo Sacramento.

Procesión Guadalupana Diocesana.- Únase al Obispo Myron Cotta en la 39 procesión y celebración de la Eucaristía en honor de la Virgen Santísima de Guadalupe, el 8 de Diciembre. Comenzamos en la Iglesia de Santa María, en el 203 de la E. Washington St, a las 12 del día.

LA INMACULADA CONCEPCION.

Fiesta Patronal de Estados Unidos. El 8 de Diciembre, Inmaculada Concepción de

nuestra Señora, es la fiesta patronal de USA y un día de

obligación. Ella se coloca en manos de Dios, a pesar la las

dificultades futuras.

GRUPO DE ORACION.-

Todos los Lunes a las 6 p.m. en el Templo

Parroquial. Ven y participa, la oración es la fuerza de la

Iglesia. Dios siempre atiende a nuestras suplicas.

SEGUNA COLECTA LA PROXIMA SEMANA.- La segunda colecta de la próxima semana será en favor del Fondo para la Jubilación de Religiosos. Muchas comunidades no cuentan

con ahorros suficientes para la jubilación y cuidados geriátricos. Su

donativo proporciona fondos para recetas médicas, enfermeros y más.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION.

US Patronal Feast. Next Sunday, December 8 is the Immaculate

Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is the patronal

feast day of the United States and a Holy Day of Obligation.

Mary’s response to the angel places her willingly in the hands

of God, no matter the difficulties ahead.

Next week´s second collection is for the Retirement fund

for Religious. Many religious communities are without adequate

savings for retirement and eldercare. Your gift provides funding

Every second Sunday of the month, Father Jorge will

celebrate Mass at Our Lady of the Valley at 12:30pm. This month it

will be on December 8 if the snow permits it. Brother Augustine will

preside a Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion in the Mission

of the Infant of Prague in Bridgeport at noon.
