The Jerry Menz Arts ScholarshipThis scholarship provides opportunities for talented youth to succeed at the highest possible levels in the arts. Decatur Park District ScholarshipsYouth Scholarship ProgramChildren grow, learn, and benefit from the arts, recreation and play! Financial assistance may be required for some individuals to participate in Park District activities and programs, and the Foundation’s Youth Scholarship Program makes funds available for students in need. Eligibility is based upon family size and income, and scholarships are awarded to youth under the age of 18 without regard to race, color, religion, age, disability or national origin. Summer Teen Club (grades 6 - 8)Want to meet new friends, swim at Fairview pool, climb the DISC rock wall, play soccer, volleyball, basketball, and take great field trips? If you’re in grades 6 - 8, the DISC’s Summer Teen Club is just for you!
Don’t miss our fun theme days, including Harry Potter Day, Spy Day, Glow-In-The-Dark Day, and Minute To Win It.
The DISC’s activity-filled camp combines nature, art & recreation! Designed for youth in grades K - 5*, Spectacular Summer Day Camp helps participants develop new skills while playing sports, taking field trips, and enjoying fun activities. Youth are separated into 3 color groups based on grade: red, yellow, and blue. *Denotes camper’s grade in upcoming school year. Participants must be at least 5 years old.
Transportation is provided free of charge to the Park District’s summer programs like junior golf, tennis, Zoo Crew, B.O.S.S., Greater Decatur Youth Band and more!

4 Create-a-Camp: Arts & Swimming
Create-a-Camp OptionCreate-a-camp by adding on your favorite Park District programs like Zoo Kids, Zoo Crew, junior golf, swim lessons, B.O.S.S., Greater Decatur Youth Band, and Summer Strings! Transportation for Summer Day Camp and Teen Club participants is provided free of charge to and from other Park District activities. Sign up to add all of your favorite programs to your camp experience. Registration is quick and easy at the DISC, 1295 W. Wood, or online at www.decatur-parks.org.
Dance & Drama ClassesJune 6 - July 15Take part in the Park District’s Dance & Drama Classes! Classes are available for beginners to advanced, preschool to adult. Ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and theatre classes will be offered. For more information, call 421-6648.
First Gig Rock N’ Roll CampJuly 18 - 23Sound, compose, produce, and perform like a rock star! With the help of musicians with years of studio and live performance experience, students aged 10 - 18 will enjoy a week of learning and fun. Campers will be assigned to a band, led by an experienced professional. Space is limited. Swimming & Diving LessonsThe Decatur Park District offers swimming and diving lessons for ages 6 months through adult at the Fairview Family Aquatic Center! Summer StringsJune 13 - July 25New times, ages and director for 2016! If you’re looking for top-notch instruction over the summer join the Summer Strings program directed by Brianna Bjerke! Designed for students aged 7 - 16, two sessions for each camp are offered. Participants may sign up for one or both sessions. All sessions are on Mondays & Wednesdays.
Greater Decatur Youth BandJune 13 - August 3Gary Shaw, Millikin Director of Bands, returns to direct the Greater Decatur Youth Band! This program is designed for instrumentalists who are looking for superior summer instruction and includes performances at local parks and events throughout the summer. Register by June 10.
Best of Summer Stock - NEW FORMAT!June 13 - July 17Join the fun as we bring Xanaduand Annie KIDS to life! In justfive weeks, actors entering 2nd- 12th grades will experience firsthand what it takes to stage a live production. Camp participants will experience everything from auditioning to performing a musical in a live theatre setting, including make-up, costumes, dance, choreography, acting and choral singing. Directed by the Park District’s professional, experienced theatre staff.

Tickets for B.O.S.S. performances may be purchased starting June 13 at the Park District office (620 E. Riverside), by phone (422-5911), or online (decatur-parks.org). Cost is just $8 for reserved seats at the Civic Center Theatre. Tickets will also be available at the door one hour prior to show times.

5Create-a-Camp: Zoo, Tennis, Golf, Soccer
Zoo CampsZoo KidsIn this week-long adventure, kids aged 7 - 8 will explore the five senses as they encounter animals that have their own unique ways to see, smell, hear, taste, and touch.
Zoo CampCook up some good times in this camp that takes a closer look at animal diets and the importance of the food web to all ecosystems. For campers aged 9 - 10.
Zoo CrewYouth aged 11 - 13 can take a closer look at animal adaptations while earning points for various games, relays, and competitions. At the end of each session, a winner will be crowned in the Scovill Zoo Adaptation Games!
Zoo SafariZoo Crew or Zoo Teens participants can conclude their summer experience at Scovill Zoo with a Zoo Safari that includes extra adventures and activities such as visits to other Central Illinois zoos and nature centers!
Junior GolfDecatur Golf Academy Junior CampsJune 7 - 10, June 21 - 24, or July 12 - 15In these fun, interactive 4-day camps, beginners will focus on coordination, simple techniques, and motor skills. More advanced players will work on form, fundamentals, and player development. “Play Days” will be offered each Friday of the camp week.
2016 Decatur Junior OpenJuly 26 & 27 at Hickory Point Golf CoursePlayers aged 12 - 21 will enjoy one complimentary practice round, 2 rounds of tournament golf, lunch, and prizes. The new 18-hole FootGolf course is integrated into the front 9 of the golf course. With recreational and competition tees, each hole can be as challengingas you’d like it to be. TennisTen & Under Tennis with USTAJune 7 - July 26 or June 9 - July 28Ten & Under will divide courts into segments and allow youth aged 6 - 10 to use smaller areas, smaller nets, and youth-friendly racquets.
Beginner TennisJune 6 - July 27This class is designed for players aged 11 - 12 and meets twice a week for 1 hour. Learn a new sport and make great new friends!
Teen TennisJune 7 - July 28Teens aged 13 - 18 can improve their tennis skills twice a week.

Junior Season Golf Pass Discounts 2016!To encourage youth participation, the Park District has reduced the fee of junior season golf passes to just $150, which includes unlimited play on weekdays and after 1 p.m. on holidays and weekends. Also included are Academy Junior Camps and admission to the Fred Copeland/Par Tamers Tournament on June 29 (a $145 value!).
