WELL COMPLETION DESIGN PROBLEM (6 marks)
i) Required to determine using the appropriate two-phase flow graph to the flowing
bottomhole pressure (Pwf ) for the following test conditions:
Given;
Well head Pressure – 100 psig
Tubing size – 2 inch nominal
Oil API Gravity – 34o API
Gas specific gravity – 0.66
Surface Flowing Temperature – 100 oF
Flowing Bottomhole Temperature – 190oF
Oil Flow Rate – 498 bopd
Water Flow Rate – 495 bwpd
Static BHP (Pr) – 2500 psig
GOR – 501 SCF/bbl
Well Depth – 6005 feet
Solution;
Converting GOR TO GLR
4 4+4 250 Add 600ft for 100psi wellhead pressure
Well depth: 6005 feet + 600 feet =6605 feet
From pressure transverse curve Pwf = 1720 psig

v) As indicated by the above graph, the 2.5 inch tubing will yield a flow rate of 1200
STB/day.
vi) The 2.5 inch tubing in the damaged well will produce 1100 STB/day as shown in the
graph above.
